    Is It Happening Again?

When researching the industry before we started expediting, Diane and I learned of a time when a lot of people got hurt real bad because fleet sizes had become too large. When the business slowed, there were way more trucks than freight to haul and a lot of folks failed. I learned today that...

What rights do we have working for a owner?

You're right, conwayman. IF the carriers went for it, such third party services would be a big help. But no carrier in their right mind would get so involved. Talk about a minefield! Carriers have other fish to fry. Might a company specializing in third party services like you describe rise to...

    CoPilot Live

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same product or not. CoPilot Truck (CoPilot Live?), shows truck stops on it's maps along with numerous other points of interest like hospitals, resturants, etc. Delorme does too.

Questions Drivers and Fleet Owners Should Ask Each

Good Driver/Fleet Owner communications can do much to promote successful business relationships between the two. What questions would fleet owners be wise to ask drivers? And what questions would drivers be wise to ask fleet owners?

What rights do we have working for a owner?

And raceman, you are right about morals. We could come up with the best contractual and business systems in the world, but that will do little to protect people from others that enter into contracts in bad faith or are irresponsible to their core. While a good contract will provide remedies...

    Mack Class 8 Hybrid Trucks

On May 4, 2004 I wondered aloud how long it might be before we started seeing class 8 hybrid trucks on the road. That inquiry was prompted by an EO news article about some expermintal hybrid package trucks FedEx was then putting on the road. The news article is at...

    Knoxville TN ?

With all the Tennessee interest this thread reveals, maybe we should all chip in, buy a few hundred acres, and build some townhouses with truck parking and some shared pole barns and wash bays where we can do some of our own maintenance when home. We can call it "Expediting Acres, Where No...

    Questions

    >1. Pay >Why does expedite pay so little? <snip> In our experience (wife and me, team drivers) expediting pays quite well. We've met very few people in trucking that do better than dedicated expediting teams. While each sector of trucking (moving van, tanker, auto transport, etc.) has its...
