    Yet another bus crash

Hey, look at I-70 between Ohio and the turnpike! Check out those ramps! That has to be illegal.

    Avoiding deer

A couple nights ago, traveling through the Hoosier, a bigass doe steps out in front of me. Through quick use of the brake and steering wheel, everybody got out in one piece, undamaged. Everybody says not to leave the lane of traffic to avoid wildlife, but when she stepped out into my lane and...

    Minnesota govt shut down

ONE DOWN, 49 TO GO! We're 1/50th freer. Actually, not quite true; we'd be about 80% freer if the feral gummint shut down, and then every state gummint that shut down beyond that makes us 1/50th of the remaining 20% freer.

    Is 21 Days Mandatory???

That's how it should be. But someone on another list was saying, "Hey, you sign a lease requiring you to wear a punk tu-tu, you got to wear a pink tu-tu." Or, if there is no real negotiation but they just hand you a lease agreement, take it our leave it, that sounds like an unenforceable...

    My time is comming...

And people wonder why I detest any company that wants to put a satellite tracker on board. It lets them do stupid crap like that. When I was a computer operator, we had two mainframe systems in the room, one for production and the other for backup and development. Everybody liked running the...

    truck stop inspections

Iowa DAT units were working hard last week, too, harassing drivers parked in rest areas.

    truck stop inspections

You statists...if it weren't so revolting to watch someone lick every badge they see, it would at least be funny. Or I should say, out would be funny if it weren't so revolting. In America...the founding fathers would be so proud.

    Yeah, I'm sure that'll solve everything (/sarcasm)

Canada Can you be charged for....driving with pets?

That's pretty much how it should be--leave people alone unless what they do ACTUALLY damages someone. But that's too much freedom for us. It'd make too much sense.

    Helping Expediters avoid an accident

Last two times I got flashed, I wish I hadn't. One was a guy, and one was a woman who should've kept her clothes on in public.

If that doesn't suit you, have your brain switch to the Polar Bear's or Rick Yemm's.

Push to make Michigan a right-to-work state gets rolling

Well, now, wait a minute. Sir understand it, there are a couple different things in play as far as right-to-work. Are you talking about this eliminating the prohibition on replacing striking workers permanently? Because I think that's federal thing. Right to work, last I heard, was the opposite...

    Hooray for Texas!

Texas passed a law, nearly unanimously, nullifying the feds's virtual ban on incandescant bulbs. They'll have to be stamped "MADE IN TEXAS." I wonder if the feds are going to make veiled threats against bulb companies tempted to go down there and manufacture them for Texans. Of course, people...

    P.J. O'rourke, statesman

"We will win an election when all the seats in the House and Senate and the chair behind the desk in the Oval Office and the whole bench of the Supreme Court are filled with people who wish they weren’t there."

Maybe only the men will get this

You know, if the flooding doesn't recede soon, the "yeah-but-it-ain't-very-deep" joke will be too realistic to be funny.

Tractor trailer crashes into Amtrak train

If it turns out he was texting or something like that...I can't think of words to describe what's going to come next. Some Obama admin dumb@$$, forget which one, proposed making all vehicle interiors impervious to cell phone signals when the car is in drive. I can imagine that coming back.

What's underneath a van that can be damaged, and where?

I don't remember 'zackly how much it was, but I remember it being far less expensive than I thought it was going to be. If it was more than $4, it wasn't much more. And I think it was at Lowe's.

What's underneath a van that can be damaged, and where?

<chuckle> That sounds like a lot of maintenance for a $4 piece of plywood, or maybe $6 if I have to get another piece to lengthen it. 'Course, got to have something to do while passing the days in Laredo... May as well do that, I suppose.

What's underneath a van that can be damaged, and where?

Yep. There's no remote. After I figured out what was going on, I could even duplicate the problem by stepping on the the screw-holes left from where the bracket was. I step, and <click>, they'd open.

Nearly 35,000 Ford workers sign grievance over pay

You have to keep in mind that we operate in a free market, one comprised of the owners of capital and production, workers, and consumers, all of which act as a check and balance on each other, much the way the government is SUPPOSED to work. Most of us, being business owners, already know how...
