Was His Death A Wake-Up Call?

...and yet, you're still not entitled to OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY. Compassion doesn't involve stealing.

    The Game

Reminds me of a story I heard about a rancher who acquired his own trucks to haul his cattle to market. Had to hire drivers and go through the whole rigamarole. Pretty soon, he's hauling for other ranchers in the area, and not long after that, he's essentially running a trucking company in...

To dismantle or not dismantle, this is a question.

The 17th amendment is a travesty and has to go.

So you have a gun in your truck?

My understanding is that wasp spray is very overrated as a defense tool. In some states, using it that way will get you in more trouble. It's also a violation of federal law to use it that way. So if you do, be aware of the trouble you could open yourself up to if you do so and then tell a cop...

So you have a gun in your truck?

Here's the list: http://publicsafety.utah.gov/bci/FAQother.html The number of states that have an actual reciprocity agreement with Utah is far lower than I remembered, but then there are lots of states that recognize the Utah permit without an agreement in place. In addition, though you need...

So you have a gun in your truck?

Well, I already said that, because Wisconsin and Illinois don't allow CCW in any form by any mere "mundane" (non-government employee such as a cop). As for the rest, I don't remember the number of states with which Utah has reciprocity, but if it's not all the others, it's pretty darn close.

FINALLY! A change in the weather

Toledo, OH...an actual chill in the air, with the wind. What a relief after a brutal summer. I've been wondering when God was going to turn down the furnace.

    The Game

To what? You said your drivers are actually your employees, not contractors. You withhold their deductions, issue them a W2 rather than a 1099, pay payroll taxes, etc. That's quite unusual in this game, but if that's how you do it, then hey are, in fact, your employees. The problem surfaces only...

So you have a gun in your truck?

I think Utah's is. Lots of out-of-staters get a Utah permit, I think because it's recognized by the other 47 states that have them. Of course, you're screwed in Illinois and Wisconsin, regardless. Only the Founding Fathers permit is valid there (that's valid everywhere there are humans), but...

    2 ethics questions

You're eating at a breakfast buffet. You reach for some bacon, and accidentally drop some into the grits or oatmeal. You retrieve it, and there's no sign it was ever there. You look over, and there's a Jewish couple who are either eating from the buffet or contemplating it (this seems...

    Post Office in Trouble!

Comic Ron White just tweeted a solution to the problems at the USPS, just minutes ago: make envelopes and stamps taste like something normal men like, which I can't mention here. The number of stamps purchased will skyrocket.

    Post Office in Trouble!

You think this jackball of a president is going to harm a union? He follows the union philosophy of "better the entire ship go down than THE MAN make a buck."

    The Game

Do you pay their payroll and FICA taxes, and their workman's comp,.etc? What kind of tax forms do you issue them at the end of the year, an employee's W2 or a 1099? If you treaty them as a contractor for tax purposes but as an employee otherwise, the question is not will you be in trouble with...

Boy, did I screw up. Delivered near Jamestown, NY. Got the owner of the co. to promise me he'd personally work on getting me out of there before the holiday weekend. Toward the house or a long load that would make staying out worth it, that is. Deliver in Jamestown (the engine plant, if it...

    Cab curtains for vans

So, while on the outside of the vehicle, you open the passenger door, and put one end in the opening and close the door. Then you walk around the front with the other end so it wraps around the windshield and driver's door window, get in, closing the door on the end in your hand?

Obama Looking Like Job Killer In Chief

I'd kind of like to know what kind of raid it was, too. Did a couple of guys show up and calmly show the CEO a warrant to seize the supplies, or did it involve yelling, armed stormtroopers?

Tell me this won't happen to us

I worked first aid and crowd/parking control at an event where there was also a keno hall. Lots of elderly ladies came to play keno there every day. Every day we were there, this one lady forgot where she parked. We had to load her in the golf cart and drive her around to find it. Every day...

Tell me this won't happen to us

Aging can be pretty frightening. Sometimes during family get-togethers (funny how auto-correct changes that to torturers), we play Uno. It's frightening that we sometimes have to remind our elderly parents what would be a valid play. "Any red, a 7, or a wild card..."
