    Sylectus shippers posting !!

The risk if not getting paid from a broker off a non-Syletcus board is much higher. We have bond claims every year even from Sylectus brokers/carriers. The risk of a truckload type broker defaulting is much higher. I second the comment John made about direct customers, and building solid...

Any Monkey Can Be A Dispatcher!

Yummy... Bananas! There is a mutual respect needed in order for a company to perform at it's best! We couldn't do it without one another, we we both need to be good at what we do behind the wheel or computer.

Senate Proposes New 100k Surity Bond For Freight Brokers!

Regulation will never replace due diligence

Next step for banned handheld cellphone use... Tattletale.

I wonder how this will affect the companies using a smartphone type devise versus QC units?

    Legal or NOT?

Like anything else, need to get things in writing..or in this case the agreed pay sent over the QC. Simple, just goto driver relations and say so and so dispatcher forgot to send over the DH pay. Issue now is....they will be waiting for you after this thread!

    Signing On With Multiple Carriers

If it's a regulated truck technically they can only be insured with one carrier at a time. The way the van guys do it is technically double brokering. The other way to do it is just broker loads to him if he has his own authority and insurance, that way it's clean and easy. The trucks we have...

Thank you to a good owner..

It's a two way street. The owner has the funds to properly take care of his equipment and drivers. That means as a driver your doing your part in insuring the truck is bring profitable by how you are running the freight and managing the truck on the road.

    Signing On With Multiple Carriers

He can be under exclusive use contract with you, that is not a problem. He just carries his own insurance. He can put his name and MC numbers on the truck and you also have you name on the truck saying Contracted to: abc carrier. He checks into the customers as your company, he uses his...

    The Game

I think the title of the thread is very telling "the game" We have heard responses from both sides of the fence and see an overall disconnect with operations and the o/o. Maybe the thread should be called "the partnership" because that is what really what this subject is all about. When your a...

    The Game

X06col, True some o/o dont see the big picture. As I was thinking about this thread, another thing dispatch could have done is maybe see if another unit was heading that way that had room for the freight. IMO it's is our job as the carrier to manage the customer relationships and provide the...

    The Game

Tough position to be in for dispatch and driver. A good high volume customer calls in and needs help with a last minute load (after all expedite is last minute most of the time) and you the driver don't want to get stuck in BFE on a holiday weekend you could be spending with the family. Only...

Where is the best place for Tractors?

It's hard not to make money with tractors in expedite IMO. Tougher with str8s. All depends on the company your leased on with.

Carrier Appearal Question; Removing Old Logos

A heatgun works the best for the decals. Like an iron but much faster. A good product to remove the glue is called Goof Off after decals are pealed off

mexican trucks in america are a fact.

We get a lot of data, internal reports, reports from the trade organizations we belong to, and also just seeing these trends over the years. Historically August is not a great month. I think the line between truckload and expedite are at time blurred. I am not sure what % of the pie...

mexican trucks in america are a fact.

Rates are down because it's early August, these same rates on the same boards/lanes were soild in June before the shut down. Both L-1 and my company share some of these same boards so we both see these trends. I think you nailed it right on the head when you said: So more competition...

mexican trucks in america are a fact.

The Big 3 is already hip to outsourcing to Mexico. Why wouldn't they solicit Mexican carriers to compete with US/Canadian expeditors in order to lower transportation costs? They already have relationships with Mexican carriers to get the product from the border to the plants down there, all...

mexican trucks in america are a fact.

Yes..lots of assumptions right now till we see what really happens. I will say this, since 99% of the Laredo and El Paso team loads do final in Mexico, that means the Mexicans carriers "could" do those loads as well and compete with the domestic expeditors. Also these same carriers that were...

mexican trucks in america are a fact.

So in other words these rules are a lot like the laws written for Canadian carriers. Only concern I have is being these Mexican carriers can only take freight back into Mexico, how will the affect expedite team service to Laredo and El Paso? Granted everything over say 550-600 miles should...

    Fleet Owners.... 2 Cents Worth

If I was a driver a lawyer would be a great person to drive for. Who doesn't want an educated, business minded, ethical person to drive for? If there is an issue with the carrier a lawyer would be a perfect person to argue on your behalf with management in order to get results, after all...
