I have to disagree OVM. Most companies that have failed, have not failed because of the lack of frieght but more because of mismanagement. Are there companies out there that have prospered and grown? Sure there is. Most companies in most industries don't succeed but some that you call "little...

Well, On Call Logistics isn't just a new start-up. They were one of the first companies that I signed on with. With that said, yes there is freight to keep people busy and profitable. We will set a limit to the amount of trucks that we take on and then grow our fleet as our customer base grows.

I have ran for multiple carriers for the last 9 months and I have been extremely happy with the results. So yes we allow our drivers to run for multiple carriers. Our hope however, is that after 90 days with us, that our independant contrators won't have a need or desire to run for anyone else...

Making the transition from driver to Operations Manager at On Call Logistics. Been off the road for a little over a week now. Really wierd how much I actually miss being on the road. There is just something about cruising down the freeway at 2am with the windows downs that makes me smile. I do...

    Making a Change

I love this business! 9 months ago, I purchased a cargo van, signed on with multiple carriers and 100,000 miles later am making a change. I have a driver set to start running my van and I will begin as the new Operations Manager for On Call Logistics Inc. On Call was one of the original...

Or they could be all american girls with great parents that got addicted to crack then turned out to support their habbit. Actually, the elect are those who believe. He died for the sins of the world, to all who would believe, to all who would call on His name. He wants that none be lost...

OK, not trying to be a total buzz kill here. The other day I was sitting in my van and started thinking about these girls and broke down weeping for quite a while. Have you ever thought about how bad these girls have to be hurting to do what they do? From truck to truck to truck and you have...

    Panther purchased by ABF?

I worked for them as a seasonal driver. Weighed in at 242 in May by the end of August I was down to 220. Hard working folks there.

Ended the week in Laredo, Tx. 1750 loaded mile, all over $1 a mile. On Call Logistics was the only carrier I ran for this week.

    What Would You Do?

Don't misunderstand, CPM is very important. 10 cents on a 100,000 miles is $10,000 so it is a huge thing through the coarse of the year. But on a Friday afternoon load offer, this is a gravy load, for me anyway. I have never deadheaded 600 miles to get a load but after thinking about it, I think...

    What Would You Do?

This is a theoretical scenario and just wondering what everyones thoughts were. I have a couple friends who would turn this load down just because of the 600 miles of deadhead. Not me, not on a weekend! I am in Laredo right now.

    What Would You Do?

Ok, it would be a huge mistake to turn down this load, imo. Let's say there is a 75% chance of not getting a load out until Monday. If I take this load, I am going to spend about $450 in fuel on the 2100 miles. That leaves $1050 real cash left and I am probably saving at least a night in...

    What Would You Do?

Ok here is the scenario. It is Friday afternoon you are sitting in middle of nowhereville, in your cargo van. You know you may be stuck there for the weekend. Your dispatcher calls, and says they have an opportunity for a load. Picks up Saturday, 600 miles away, 1500 mile run delivers...

    Express-1 Set to Grow Big

Not disputing any of that. But when it comes right down to it, just don't discount the little guy. Like baseball, players can move up from the minors because they out play others at the major league level. No player decides that they want to be a great minor league player, they just want to be...

    Express-1 Set to Grow Big

Ya out think em, out work em and mostly out pray em. When a customer loves you and just likes them you win. When someone is looking for a person they trust to handle their frieght, many shippers still prefer a hand shake and a smile instead of a dull computer interface. People still love it when...
