    Another HOS question

    >I'm sure a lot of you remember that ridiculous story about >the FedEx truck being towed into the consignee's yard and >the driver having the truck unhitched and backing it into >the dock. Apparently the truck had run out of hours. I >never knew if that was a real story or someone with a...

    Transfering our equipment

The Thermo King UTS unit does not require a chassis. It is designed as an underbelly reefer. In most applications, it bolts directly onto the reefer body cross members and remains fixed there. It is designed to be serviced in place. Only major and uncommon repairs would require the reefer to be...

    Need to Pee ??

If we modify Uncle Booger's Bumper Dumper (see Terry's post above) to attach to a lift gate and add a seat belt and stirrups, White Glove team drivers could keep the truck rolling!

    Qualcom

Bandwith (the amount and speed of data transfer)is the core issue when it comes to offering Qualcomm features. The more data that is sent and received, the higher the cost to the carriers. Some carriers, though no expediters that I know of, provide limited personal e-mail services to their...

    Transfering our equipment

A fact to consider: California regulators are actively talking about regulating reefer emissions as they do trucks. In their view, it would be just fine to have two reefer fleets (all carriers combined) in the nation, one running in CA with "clean" reefers, and all the rest that would not be...

    MB900 Engine Troubles

This is not the first time we've heard of Freightliner dealers that throw parts at the problem instead of diagnosing it first. Go to a dealer or non-Freightliner facility that has a good reputation.

    Deciding who to run for/with

With owner/operators and carriers, business is beteween two parties and the carrier is a business where several people can rise to assist you where assistance is needed. When a fleet owner is in the mix, it's usually a one or two man (or woman) show. If the fleet owner is unavailable for one...

Are cargo van runs realy THIS slow right now?

In response to a question I asked, Moot said, ">If you can drive a car you can probably handle a van. Some >carriers don't require a CDL for a van. Initial cost and >up-keep cost are less than a truck. No log books or scales. > These are all reasons prospective expediters go the van...

    New FedEx service

    >I as well am only basing this on the >truckshow article. The truck show paper got it wrong and the article should not be relied upon as accurate. It's an unfortunate case where a newsletter writer or his or her editor failed to fact check the writer's work before it went to print.

Diane and I use both Co-Pilot Truck and DeLorme Street Atlas USA. The trouble is, neither product is the best one. Both are good but it would be wonderful if they could combine the best of both products into one.

    Louisville Truck Show

The truck show was educational and great fun as it always is. While we were happy to help out, Diane and I look forward to seeing Terry and Rene' back in the booth next year. As with others, it was fun putting faces together with screen names. Working the booth increased my appreciation for...

    New FedEx service

At the Louisville truck show, I attended the FedEx breakfast where the FedEx CC big boss explained this new program. I read a report about it in the truck show newspaper, which I later learned was more innacurate than accurate. I talked to two FedEx recruiters about it in two separate...

Where is the best place to get Tires?

romoore245, I don't know which carrier you run with. FedEx CC and Landstar have group buying programs that can save you some money on tires, if you are with those carriers. Other carriers may have the same. It's something to look in to.

Are cargo van runs realy THIS slow right now?

Terry's post about van running is very informative and helpful. Seventeen years of weathering slow seasons. Wow! Even more impressive, it's seventeen years of SUCCESSFULLY weathering the slow seasons. As a straight truck driver, I've often wondered why so many people seem so eager to jump into...
