a bad and costly trend....Detention time

When enough shippers have him sit on the ramp for 1 hour and 55 minutes because they KNOW they get the first 2 hours free...he will get that used and abused feeling...

a bad and costly trend....Detention time

The old adage....Time is money.....never really gets old...it applies today as much as it did 100 yrs ago.... it is time out of your life you can never recover...it maybe only 2 hours, but that is 2 hours of your life lost forever.....

a bad and costly trend....Detention time

guess thats my point...as you know there are some customers that are nearly always late loading....they should be the ones paying NOT the carrier....I understand for what you say tho...if that same carrier is spending millions with us for example....where is the line in the sand?....

    New Ford Van

I can understand Fords not wanting to rush this out there....they have invested alot of money probably billions of dollars.....on a plant makeover and training the people to everything involved is a massive undertaking.....on this venture...and no one wants to be in the target zone if something...

a bad and costly trend....Detention time

I think the owner/president Spencer of AllState made that point clear one day right here.....when he claimed expediting business model was all about VOLUME, the MILES....and we O/O's were a COMMODITY......a commodity?.....like pork bellies?....

a bad and costly trend....Detention time

Great your carrier did that for you....BUT if they charged the customer as they SHOULD be....IMO of course.....they wouldn't have to take it off their bottom line......

    New Ford Van

from the scuttlebutt at the plant and the common worker it sounds more like an ego battle between the American and European engineers.....the Americans want to put their mark on the model and take some of the glory....a very prevalent American quality.....LOL

a bad and costly trend....Detention time

Because out of competition, some carriers extended the time frame to charge for our time...they almost give us away as a free commodity...it is like our time is not a chargable item.....and yet do carriers realize what a profit center it could be if they did?.....so pretty much I expect hand...

    New Ford Van

scarey thing is Bill.....it was a great van over the pond.....what the heck are Fords engineers doing to it???>....why change what worked?.....all they had to do was switch from right hand drive to left hand.... Promaster didn't seem to have any problems.....

    April Fools & Showers

and why is that?...because out of competition, carriers no longer charge for our time...they give us away as a free commodity...our time is not a chargable item.....and yet do carriers realize what a profit center it could be if they did?.....so pretty much I expect hand unload to be abolished...

    New Ford Van

Especially when the Ford is NOT a first year van.....first year being built in N/A yes.....but the model and technical stuff has been proven elsewhere......even the Promaster is NOT a first year van...
