An abomination?
B.S.
Common courtesies are courtesies because they are rendered without charge, like saying thank you after business is completed or asking a consignee exactly where to place the freight when delivering it with a pallet jack or inviting a concerned shipper inside your truck so...
You made the right call for no other reason than our carrier strictly prohibits inside deliveries to residences. We can go as far as the inside of the garage and that's it.
I'm sure the hospitality crowd in this thread will say it is no big deal to carry a piece the last few steps into a home...
I don't know about more readers. There are ways to measure my web site traffic but I have not figured out how to use them. It is not important to me how many readers I have. Building an audience is not why I do my blog so I don't keep track of the numbers.
As to the trip maps, I am hearing...
And about that executive thing, idtrans, ...
Here is a photo of a room full of expediters and expediter wannabees attending a seminar at the Expo. Can you tell which ones are the executives and which are not?
Executive wannabees? It's actually a pretty good title to have when you think about...
I wonder if that was the same truck Diane and I parked next to yesterday. We arrived at a parking area at a shipper and saw another WG truck and team parked there, waiting at that familiar staging area to pick up freight.
I pulled up along side of them and lined up our passenger window to...
Brisco,
Thank you for your comments. It's nice to have you on board as a blog reader, and, no, it does not come across like you are jumping on me.
Your post and others prompt the following responses:
- For those who have not seen it, the blog post in question can be read here.
- Debris...
This thread produced a number of private responses to me that got me thinking more about border crossing issues. Diane and I have been with our carrier for almost eight years. Even though we do everything drivers are expected to do, and do it right, our border crossing experience is as ragged...
I just watched the manufacturer's video on that generator. We have an Onan too but it is an older model. It is very quiet and it was fun to see that Onan has made its generator line even quieter. If we make it to the Expo or see you on the road, we'd like the chance to hear the generator run to...
Understood, but here's hoping you will change your mind. Diane and I kept our truck price ($251,000) to ourselves for a while after it was built. We did so because we feared criticism. But the question was so persistent that we finally gave in and it turned out to be no big deal.
Most of the...
That is nothing new. From the first day Diane and I signed on with the company nearly eight years ago, drivers have told us stories about how such claims were paid out without contest and about how they felt victimized by an injustice because they really were not at fault.
It took us a very...
No they don't have a monopoly on parking in the L.A. area. They have a monopoly on their parking lot. There are plenty of places to park. You just have to look around.
Of course my opinion is easy to maintain as Diane and I are in a straight truck with a sleeper that has a bathroom and shower...
If damages from an incident or accident were incurred by Diane and me, and it happened because of someone else's fault, and the insurance policy did not pay the full claim we felt we had, that would not be the end of it. We would act on our own to recover the damages (assuming of course enough...
No one has asked yet so I will. It is of course your option to answer or not.
How much did it cost to build your new truck bumper to bumper and put it on the road, including tax, license, any extended warranties, etc.?
I think so but this is where differences of opinion enter in. Our truck did not come with fender mounted mirrors and we added them, choosing full visibility over whatever fuel economy hit the mirrors would create.
Carry a spray bottle filled with window cleaner, other bug removal mixture or even plain water. When you are stopped, reach out the window and saturate the dead bugs on the windshield with the spray. Let them soak for a minute or two. Use your windshield wipers to finish the job.
This is not...
I have not seen the Caffee truck in person but something I understand from a conversation with Jeff Jones is the attention to aerodynamics given in this style of truck.
The Freightliner Cascadia is one of the most aerodynamic trucks on the road (the most according to Freightliner). Notice that...
(Posted in the General Forum because I am interested in hearing comments from FDCC competitors and former contractors too.)
FedEx Ground recently announced its "ISP Transition" in response to lawsuits that alleged misclassification of its drivers.
People who have been following this issue...
