    FedEx will make some change's

Ah ha! Good catch. It sounds like the kind of tweak FedEx would find easy to fix. If you succeed, you'll have done a favor for a bunch of drivers.

    Dangerous bridge in Carlisle Pa.

I read the article you linked to. It said, in part, "Every few weeks a truck goes over on its side on the Clarks Ferry Bridge. The way it was designed, truck drivers experience a gradually curved stretch of highway at 65, fail to slow down to the 45 mph speed limit, and then flip when they get...

    FedEx will make some change's

Regarding the mileage rate used to calculate the fuel surcharge for straight trucks, the "Fuel Surcharge Helper" on the FedEx Extranet states 9 mpg is use for straight trucks. I'm wondering, where the 10 mpg figure is coming from? Is not 9 already being used?

    New Truck Tires

For FedEx drivers, Goodyear has a big discount program for you; at least they did the last couple times fleet owners had us buy tires for their trucks. There is a program number we gave the dealers. The savings were substantial, along the same lines Leo reported. Check the FedEx Extranet or your...

    Need advice on getting started

I understand your desire to be debt free on the truck. That would certainly take some of the stress out of being on the road with one. But if you did finance the truck as others recommend, you could also take comfort in the fact that in a worst-case scenerio, you will have the reserves with...

    FedEx will make some change's

A 3% raise for C and D reefer trucks means an extra $4,500 a year more for a $150,000/year producing truck and $6,000 a year more for a $200,000/year producing truck (as in gross revenue paid to the truck). Depending on one's level of production and the purchase price of the reefer, the raise...

Broom made a response about what your time is wort

RE: Broom made a response about what your time is One of the beauties of the Open Forum, and one that Diane and I took full advantage of before we began as expediters, is by reading past posts, you can learn from other peoples' mistakes. You don't have to learn from your own.

RE: Broom made a response about what your time is In the interests of clarity, this post started out about the value of one's time. It has now morphed into one about building personal assets, especially with retirement in mind. "Do you pay yourself first?" and "How much is your time worth?" are...

If you can make your first-ever trip into the city in something other than a truck, do it. The more familiar with the sights and sound sof the city you are, the easier it will be to concentrate on your truck driving. Use the web to figure out how to take a commuter train into a Manhattan...
