    Americas 'settled in three waves'

Yes, it did predate the vikings. It also assumes that those who moved across the land bridge were the first here. There is, at least some evidence that is not correct. Global warming, which continues today, is what allowed our present society to evolve. As always, it will get cold again.

Some bright spots for the U.S.

It would have stimulated inflation. Want a stimulus? LOWER TAXES DRASTICALLY! Lower our business tax until it is one of, if not the lowest, in the world. KEEP those extremely low levels of taxes for 50 years. THEN watch the economy BOOM!

OH MY! The WORST natural disaster EVER! (mmm 'er, in 12 years) Talk about hype. They have only been keep these records for 12 years. Hottest first half of a year on record? Only since 1835 when those records were started. Out of how many Billion years? Talk about scare tactics. How pathetic...

What the U.S. Can Learn From Australia’s Coal Mines

Yes, I know! You guys think I could make that one up? :p I used to live near there, often fished Pithole Creek for trout. I even saw the play (while taking part in passive entertainment) "Melba, the toast of Pithole", VERY FUNNY! Good local humor.

    Failure In War On Drugs

I don't understand. When booze was legal is was not a crime, then it was and crime went up. When it became legal, it went down. No law will stop drug use. No law will stop drinking, no law will stop smoking. Those laws create black markets and crime. Murder, rape etc are a different kind of...

    Americas 'settled in three waves'

Why is it that most of these 'studies' just skip over the Viking settlements in Greenland and Canada which predated Columbus by 1000 years? There is also strong evidence that Early asian people may have driven off some of the Vikings. This "story", like so many like it, is just too 'neat'.

What the U.S. Can Learn From Australia’s Coal Mines

Only if you look at it short term and in limited areas. Oil and gas is ALWAYS producing jobs. As long as the need exists it will do so. There are no oil jobs in Pithole, PA but there are TONS of oil and gas jobs all of the state. Refineries ARE oil and gas jobs.

    Failure In War On Drugs

There would be no cartels if it were not for the prohibition on drugs. Decriminalize, NOT legalize. Take away the profit. Government forced prohibition has never worked and never will. There are STILL moonshiners and revenuers chasing them. Government controls EVERYTHING. It's like squeezing...

What the U.S. Can Learn From Australia’s Coal Mines

Not true, that would assume that there is no need to refine the product. Refineries produce a LOT of jobs. Also, if the cost of fuel goes down to do high supply money that is now being spent on fuel would be used in better ways that would produce even more jobs. Green junk should be left to...

    Failure In War On Drugs

This is a DIRECT result of "Prohibition". It did not work for booze and lead to a tremendous amount of crime. It has not worked for drugs and is causing a tremendous amount of crime, and yet, there are STILL jackweeds out there wanting to use the power of government to outlaw or curtail MORE...
