    Got me again

I'm the kind of guy that would wear a belt and suspenders so when I say fumes I mean less than a quarter tank on the guage. In my truck that means I may pump as much as 90 gal. to top it off. I have 2 75gal. tanks. But I never trust the guage on a truck.

    Got me again

I often drive down to Indiana or Ohio before I buy fuel because Michigan's fuel taxs are so high. I would'nt mind paying them if the money was used to fix the roads (oh well that's another subject). Anyway I get to the Pilot on I69 just over the line in Indiana on fumes. As I'm pumping I...

    No good deed goes unpunished

Shady.. The 60s was an other time. Much was good about it but folks were a little short on tolerance. You didn't do anything wrong or have anything to feel guilty about. Man.. You must be the only person on here older than me.

    Security Alert

France has recently updated their security status from hide to run. this constitutes the third highest alert and may be updated to surrender or colaborate at any time. The problem has further been complicated because the national white flag factory has burned down. The fire has caused much...

about why is all expideite is all for teams??

I drive single and my company is set up for single drivers more than teams. Each company is a little different. Their customer base, location and style of business may suit teams or singles. Just shop around until you find a home....... Wise guy #2

    Operating Cost of FL70

That's the problem. Each truck is a little different. An FL70 would be a used truck since they recently quit making it. So how good a deal would you get on it and what kind of shape is it in. What engine and transmission package you have would effect mileage and maintenance costs. Sometimes...

Spray in Pickup Bed Liner Under Cargo Box

Hmmmm is right. The stuff seems a little flexible. So it would flex with the weight of the lift trucks and maybe not crack like that brittle epoxy. It gets harder and harder to have a decent looking truck as they get older but I'm not ready to invest in a newer one until I see some money...

FL70 dash rash or creeping crud

I have seen a lot of FL70s with peeling paint on the dash. Mine is no exception. Any way it's getting kind of depressing looking at my peeling dash. Has anyone found a paint that will stick to that slippery undercoat they use?

Spray in Pickup Bed Liner Under Cargo Box

I sealed the inside floor of my box with a two part epoxy coating. It worked real good for about 4 months but now I'm getting cracks between the boards. Maybe I should try that liner stuff underneath too. Right now I'm contemplating lining the floor with diamond plate steel. That should head...

    Vacation in Chattanooga

It takes a lot of time to figure out where your company has the best luck in getting loaded and what areas to avoid. I haven't turned down any loads this year so now I really know what areas to avoid but if I changed companies that would probably change. So now I know to avoid Florida...

    Hurricanes

Couple years back, when I was dispatching, we had several reefer trucks sitting at an air base loaded with ice just after a hurricane. They just sat there until their ice was needed. One was there 5 days. They were paid a bunch per day. Some were never unloaded but they were paid very very well.

    More Posters please

I'm with you. I have to admit, I read this site for 2 years before I ever posted. Sometimes it's hard to believe that you may have anything to contribute. Still it's hard to post and give good advice or comments.

Looking to get in the business.

If I were you I'd talk to as many drivers from as many different companies as you can. Bear in mind that many of us may be having a bad day and may not speak kindly of our company. Take what you hear with a grain of salt and make your decision carefully. Pontoon Beach in IL. is a perfect...

    Michigan to Enforce (see headlines)

Back in the old 55 mph days, I used to follow the Strohs beer trucks on I94 and I75. They never got tickets and they went about 75. It was a good way to make time. Ya and I'd vote for Ted too.

    No good deed goes unpunished

Hey, I got back home with my trailer and it's back in the yard. After a while it started to get a little funny. Got there and it rained on me while I hooked up and then I got stuck in the mud. Strange how things build up until it becomes funny. I must be warped. Now all I have to do is get...

    No good deed goes unpunished

I took my travel trailer to a church camp for my niece to use, thus loosing all of that friday for taking any loads. Now here I am again. I deadheaded from Columbus to Grand Rapids to get my pickup and drive 90 miles to pick up the trailer and bring it home. Someone please shoot me. So far...

    Lift Gate Safety

This was not my truck. The gate did not come all the way down level. Those tall carts just took off. Lucky one didn't tip over. I really liked the exercise.

    Michigan to Enforce (see headlines)

Yup. Here we go again. I live here too. I love the woods and the lakes and streams. The problem is most of the money goes to a few counties and the rest get little or nothing. I'd better stop while I'm ahead. I'm too old and fat for this flimsy soap box I'm standing on.

    Lift Gate Safety

I had a moonligt job on weekends back in my dispatch days. I would haul flowers and plants to garden centers. The loads would be on rolling racks and worth about $500 per rack. The truck was equipped with a power lift gate and every unload was an experience to remember. I never dumped a rack...
