    How Neat Are These

I think they should have turned the Pepsi sign on the back to be upside down as well. Funny truck though. Jeff :9

    The Last 2 Weeks

Looks as if your average just went up to what? About 3500 miles a week? Glad to see someone is makin' money. How are things with the HOS rules? I am a little surprised to see some of those runs given to a solo. Evidently, those loads allowed for layover, huh? Congrats! Jeff Drive safe!

    U-Ship

Ya know. Maybe we all should start bidding expedited freight prices on Uship loads, just for the heck of it. At least it will cause some stir. Just go ahead and figure what it WOULD take for you to do the job and quote it. LOL. Drive safe! :P

    Expediters On Television? You Bet!

    Pretty cool commercial.

    U-Ship

Yeah. It seems as though most of it is cheap freight that people post when they don't even like the price they got from an LTL carrier. Of course there are also cars, pianos and other fragile freight as well. My $.02 minus both sides of S.S. and withholding. ;)

    the new diesel fuel

This is one of the questions I have been asking recently. I have been looking into a new B-Unit, and was going to go for a diesel this time. After reading all of this though, I may just go for a gasser again. Plus, they seem to be about 400lbs. lighter than diesel, so I can get more freight...

BTW Cheri, NICE PHOTOSHOPPING!!! Long layover?

    UPS and FEDEX

Yes, last year UPS bought Emery Expedite, or rather the new Menlo Expedite. M.E. was not just a carrier, but a forwarder. I saw a UPS Expedite D-Unit some time back. My opinion, but it seems that that side of UPS is more interested in growing themselves as an all inclusive 3PL than just...

GMC 3500 with 16' Box or a Sprinter, which is bett

RE: GMC 3500 with 16' Box or a Sprinter, which is I just posted a thread in Truck Talk just like this one, but somehow I had missed this thread. MSinger, What you have in mind with the Dodge Ram, I have also thought of by using an F-350. Or better yet, I would love to find that either GM or...

    Accepting every load...

In this business I believe it is >imperative to focus on cost/revenue per mile. Those are >numbers that can be calculated exactly whereas hourly is a >rough estimate at best and a WAG the rest of the time. ================================================== And with that I will give a...

    Accepting every load...

I love that. It makes it worthwhile for the times you deal w/ jerks. I also love how the shipper can be nonchalant about the shipment, only to find that the consignee is ready to pull his hair out that it didn't come yesterday. Then you have a shipper who is all in a hurry because he...

    Accepting every load...

BTW, let me also say that there will ALWAYS be cheap carriers as well. These kind will do anything to get the jobs from someone else. Normally, these carriers place no value on the SERVICE they offer, and so they will never place any value on the men and women who run their freight. I just...

    Accepting every load...

Unfortunately, sometimes the best tactic in slow season is to try and stick it out a little longer than the "cheap freight guys." I know guys who will run for peanuts. It's sad that most of them are so in debt over something like putting new tires on or getting the brakes replaced. It's all...

    Hi Tops for Vans

Hey John. I just saw a place a few days ago that had a new raised top van they sell. Check this out: http://lawest.com/cargo_king_e250.htm This particular conversion was only for a standard length van, but if they do that one, then maybe they do the extended as well. The reason I mention this...

    companies

Hey DannyD, Don't forget to mention that if you're running airfreight, those loaded miles are usually a lot more than MOST vans get in expediting, because you are usually making a roundtrip w/ freight. Tell me if I'm wrong. I know every market is different. I could probably take a guess for...

    What Van For You?

Hey everyone. I know this thread is about 5 months old, but I am asking the same questions about vans right now. I have a Ford. My last was a Ford. My first tranny got 325k. I retired the beast a little earier than some, at 370k. I had gotten T-boned in traffic one time. The second T-bone...

    Economy Slowdown

I have to agree with you, Dave. That is what I've had to do in all of this. And what ATeam said about having a business plan is soooo important. The freight industry has had to adapt in order to remain relevant. As Owner/ Operators, I think we will need to become flexible as to our methods...

Would it be in bad taste to ask who the owner is at this point? Would it help keep some newbie from getting screwed as well? Just a thought.

    Economy Slowdown

Hey guys. Freight is down in all sectors it seems. I speak from the air freight sector, and it has been down here as well, especially during April and May. Air freight is generally made up of true air freight, or that which is flown at some phase of the venture, and then delivered, as well as...

    Eleven Bucks an Hour

In the late '90s, I was living in southern California. In the news there was a story of a pregnant woman using the carpool lane there and being ticketed. She fought the ticket. Her defense was that the fetus in her womb was the rider. She won!
