Should I get an authority and get my own load or n

RE: Should I get an authority and get my own load If you're getting .90 per mile and a 12% surcharge for a van, you're getting one of the highest rates in the industry. The grass may look greener on the other side but you may end up on the outside looking in. Many carriers are not recruiting...

    I've had enough

Yup, I'm the guy. Looks like I won't be downsizing after all anyway but the arthritis is beginning to make the "D" truck a lot harder to do. I guess if it continues to get worse I'll just have to find something else to do.

    Is it really that slow

Sorry did'nt mean to be that negative. I'd try to get hooked up with TST air as much as I could. That division of the company is easier to get along with.

    Is it really that slow

I started out as an owner operator for TST. In this business I've been lied to and cheated and stepped on but TST never did anything like that to me. Problem is I enjoyed working for the liars and cheats more than I enjoyed working for TST.

    Aux. heater on Sprinters

Thanks for the reply. It sorta looked like an Espar in the literature. Looks like I can get one either way then.

    I've had enough

Sorry to see you go. I've been thinking along the same lines but not ready to quit yet. I'm gonna downsize and keep plugging for a while. Hope to see you back.

    Aux. heater on Sprinters

There is a factory installed aux. heater available on Sprinters. Has this option been out long enough for anyone to try it? If so, how well does it work? Would I be better off with the Espar heater? Any input on this unit would be very helpful. Thanks.

    Best view from the interstate?

I don't get out west much so my favorites are further east. Parts of the WV turnpike are really nice and I like US2 along Lake Michigan in the upper penninsula of MI.

    PROHEAT FREEZE UP PROBLEM SOLVED

Hey I have the same problem from standing between two diesel engines in an engine room. Can't hear nuttin. Glad to hear there may be a Pro Heat fix. Those units sure look like a a real neat system. I have some experience with those Kubota engines and they're great.

    SUPPLY AND DEMAND

Yup. I did a cross dock in Cincinnati the other day and the driver of the other truck spoke very little english and couldn't figure out how to dump the air out of his air ride to match the dock. You know, we're sharing the road with these guys.

Gas prices vs. Fuel Surcharge and Pay Rates

You know.... We're not looking at the economic side of this issue. The oil companies are getting the price they're getting because we're paying it. The government Isn't setting oil prices the oil companies and the oil speculators are. If we stopped buying fuel for one day the fuel prices...

    Naptime

I used to keep a wet wash cloth in my cooler or hang it out the window in winter. Man that'll wake you up. Had the darn thing freeze to my window one night. I also don't eat much in the way of sweets so M&Ms one at a time will keep me awake real good. If that doesn't work I'm just too tired...

    re-up?

Some of us are making money and some of us aren't. I'm pondering this question right now. It's time to step up to a newer truck or down to a van and it's not an easy decision. I own my truck and have no payments but I'm still not making any money in a D truck. I hear the vans aren't as busy...

    annual gross averages

First you have to average 300 loaded miles per day. Also consider the truck gets from 6 to 8 miles per gallon. Oil changes are $120.00. Tires are $300.00 to $450.00ea and most repairs run from $500 to $1000. You have to pay for your own health insurance and there are incdental daily expenses...

Two More for the Product Showcase

Someone needs to hire you as our designated shopper. You keep coming up with this neat stuff. I'm still pondering the swampy air conditioner. If I had a Sprinter I'd own one of those.

    Bypass Filter for CAT 3126

I checked my oil by analasis at 6000 when I changed it and 8000, and then 10,000. All the reports were very good but I just could'nt press it past 10,000. Now I have it cheched every oil change at 10,000. It just seems like a mistake to push a 3126 any further.

    Michigan to Enforce (see headlines)

Chicago invented the political machine so I think they still get the award but Detroit comes in close behind. I'll stay on the west side of my state where all I have to look out for is the Dutch mafia.

    Getting Started

There were a few companies (and still are in TTs) that expected you to cheat your logs or run 2 logs to get the freight delivered. The same companies don"t know how it could have happened if you get caught. So anyway, a few of us are a little sensitive when we see someone willingly running...
