    New York City

I would prefer to avoid New York City if I can. As far as deadheading major miles to go there... nope. I prefer not paying to enter a place I'd rather not go and their tolls are industrial strength.

FL70, Good? Bad? what problems to look for?

I had a 1999 FL70 for 2+ years and it was an OK truck. The price was right but it was not equipped the way I wanted when I started looking. Mine was an Alumabunk with 72" sleeper,22' box, Cat 3126 250hp, and a 7 speed. It got 8.5 mpg and never used oil. In the time I owned it ... it needed a...

    A Question For D-Unit Solos

I had a solo D unit for a little over 2 years. I changed to a Sprinter because I felt I could Make a living without cheating on loggs. Since then I have discovered a couple of companies that would be able to run you legal and still keep you busy. Sometimes I wish I had the old Freightliner...

    put up or shut up!!!!!

I'm afraid this isn't just us. Anyone who has spent any time in a truck stop has seen more than their share of grubby unprofessional truck drivers who can't drive or don't know their job. If they had a website like this, you would be seeing plenty of clueless posts. Unfortunately this has caused...

    Problems with Freightliner?

I sold my Freightliner about a year ago but I found very few Freightliner dealers that seemed to care at all. Least of all the one nearest my home. I must say though that the dealer in Texarcana Texas really helped me out and was reasonably priced too. I guess this proves the old saying. They...

    One Post Wonders

GR8DNLVR.... I visited this website and read the posts for more than 2 years before I joined. I thought it was a great place to go for good advise. I had the same fears you had and I felt I had very little to contribute. I still only contribute when I'm home and, even then, not every time...

    Sprinter Van Question

I had a power loss problem with my 2005 Sprinter and it turned out to be the turbo relay. It would come and go and usually be ok immediately after starting.

    One Post Wonders

Wake up and grow up. This site sells advertising in order to provide for full time employees to provide services for this industry. No-one else does it as well. EO didn't buy out Conway Now and didn't cause failed deals or poor dispatch with other companies. We all have had bad experiences...

    Why We Do This

I do this because I like it and since I started my blood pressure has dropped a bunch. Having said that .... this is the worst year yet. I'm far behind the plan and a bit discouraged. If I didn't have a plan I'm sure I'd be going in the hole. Anyway, I continue to do the same thing over and over...

    Try Hours Inc.

I drove one of their company trucks back in 2001 to see if I wanted to do this. There was good and bad but I'm still doing this and not with them. It took me six months to get my escrow back and I had to threaten legal action.

An Other way of looking at it

Here we go with the three basic needs again Kim. Hey A team. I've done both those things and I think you are correct about the truck. I may try being a greeter at Walmart though.

An Other way of looking at it

I really think that this has caused me to accept more loads because some revenue to offset these expenses is beter than no revenue. When you're sitting away from home you are incuring more expense but even at home you have fixed expenses that are eating you up. The only way to offset these...

An Other way of looking at it

My wife has a background in accounting, which is a good thing, but she has a way of knocking the stilts out from under me from time to time. I hear a lot of talk about cost per mile as a rule of thumb for accepting loads. I think it's a great tool for that but my wife has always used the cost...

    FSC covering fuel prices?

I have always done the same. I use my own fuel card (no service charge and small payback) and get the fuel surcharge with my settlements. Advances can cause misunderstandings and hurt feelings.
