    Location location

I have had very little success in getting loads up that way in my sprinter. The closest place to you that I have had much success is ElPaso TX. I know a few guys who seem to do fairly well in the west but most of the freight is east of the Mississippi. If you want to live there and run a...

    Cargo Van / Sprinter Income

More and more guys are driving cutaway vans. That is a small High cube van with single rear wheels. They are still under 10,000lbs gvw and the inside is rectangular so its much easier to make interior modifications. Being a high cube, they are american iron so they are easier and cheaper to...

    Cargo Van / Sprinter Income

That $1000.00+ figure for a turbo is a little low. I just had one done yesterday and it cost $1950.00 after my business link discount. Without the discount it would have been nearly $2600.00. That's on a 2005 Sprinter. They are very good when they are running but pricey to repair.

    3126 w/10spd Shift Points

I used to moonlight delivering flowers in a 10 wheel truck equipped with a 3126 and a 10 speed. It took a while to get the feel of the thing. Most Detroits and Cummins you can shift at lower RPMs but that little Cat was different. You had to be up above 2000 RPM to shift up or down. It was...

    Sprinter Heater Settings

Ok, now you're going down the road and the engine is at the normal operating temperature. You have the heater set to vent and the knob is all the way to cool. Even a speck above the bottom stop and you have a little heat coming out of the vents. When you stop at a light the heat will blast your...

Just got into Memphis today and Already Sick of it.

I never liked sitting there either. It's a little better since they rebuilt the J in west Memphis but the area reminds me of Lake Station. Not a very safe or wholesome invironment. I usually got good loads out of there though.

    Sprinter temtress in yard

Right now the Sprinter is not tempting me as much as it was. It's in the shop getting a new turbo installed to the tune of $2000+. I have always kept up on service and repairs but it's hard to do when its not earning me any money. .....Back on the market it goes. ....But still, a nice...

    Sprinter temtress in yard

It's been about 14 weeks since I semi-retired. Since then I have been working in an auto parts store in Caledonia MI. The thing is, I find myself driving by the exit76 truck stop just to see who's there. I kinda feel like the retired fire dog that still chases the truck to all the fires. I know...

    India and Frank Hammer

Now see... there you go again. You just hit on the very thing I miss most about expediting. I always had a few folks I'd run into ( not literally ) out there and I miss that very much. The Sprinter hasn't sold yet but I think the family would shoot me if I went back out on the road again. I...

So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Good-Bye

I lurked on here for many years before I joined up. Posts by Terry and Rene have been a great help to me. I also appreciate the advise and the helpful attitude in the few times we have met. Terry, the best of luck to you on your third career but you won't need it because you make your own luck...

    Terry and The Beast

Are you sure this is not a sea story????? As Terry knows the difference between a sea story and a fairy tale is this ............ A fairy tale starts out, once upon a time. A sea story starts out, this ain't no - - - - (four letter word deleted)

    Vietnam

I did not go to Vietnam but I was in the service during that time and what I see in the news and hear from many folks really worries me. I have very vivid memories of young kids with long hair spitting on young kids with short hair because they were wearing uniforms. People called greiving...

    Old Chubby Guy Bites Dust

Ark ... I have already tried the banjo minnow and the fish were unimpressed with my tecnique. I'm convinced the best artificial lure is dynamite. No, fishing is not an excuse to drink beer but it is a good excuse for avoiding honeydoo jobs. Golf is a very good reason to drink beer.

    Old Chubby Guy Bites Dust

This is just a post to thank everyone for all the good info and support. I have not been posting much lately and it seems I must be burned out on the business. It's time to get a part time job (family says a real job) and retire in October. My Sprinter will be up for sale in July and my boat...
