Isn't that what its all about? Oab works for those whose business model is set up for it. My owner has been doing business oab for nearly 30 years. Works for him.

You pretty much covered the reasons I do it. I have to admit though, it is probably easier for me to do it, as I don't own the truck, and don't have the expenses others have. I also think the deal I have with the truck owner is unique in this industry.

Trying to calculate an hourly rate is an effort in futility. This is not a by the hour industry, so therefore, you just can't calculate a by the hour pay rate. Imho, of course!
