Well just being one of the top 20 in the US/Canada is HUGE in my eyes. To be named the number one would be amazing, but I think we still have work to do to reach that one. But I would LOVE to get us there!

The concept that one safe driver is a better risk than a fleet is mathematically simply not true. The larger the fleet risk is spread. A safe small fleet can not spread risk wether they are at fault or not, the insurance company has to pay in many states. So while one individual may have a...

Well when a company signs contracts that stipulate terms and they do something different knowingly that is unethical and really fraud. That applies no matter what size a company is big or small.

Not sure if it is that or just the fact commercial exposure is so much greater or a combination. I agree over insure is better. We carry 5 million extra, 500k cargo and a 250k brokerage bond. Ain't cheap but you sleep better.

I am sure if the mom and pop business was run out of their house and they could get their suppliers to provide their own insurance to do business with them they could do well vs Walmart. Bit alas you only seem to find that structure in the world of cargo vans. :) This the point of the thread...

The bigger carriers are not for the most part the low price guys. They have staffs and infrastructure costs to support. The very small guys are able to shift a lot of expenses such as insurance to the fleet or working from home. Larger fleets have no such cost saving advantage. Most I know of...

The multi carrier model definitely has an effect on carriers and the small shipment market. Throws the supply/demand curve off. As well they often operate (insurance for instance) with greatly reduced cost structures due to no infrastructure. You have no 24 hour coverage, no safety...

Whole the vehicle may not legally be required to carry cargo. The "carrier" they are pulling for that day has most likely signed a contract stating they have cargo insurance. Most likely on the amount of 100k. Borderline fraud in my opinion. I have seen some sign contracts that require 100k and...
