    BUMMER MISSED THE EXPO

I second the weekend idea. And how about July when most of us are'nt as busy? This is the second year in a row I rolled into the World Famous to see nothing but folded tables under the Big Top. The last time I went I was only there an hour and I had to leave. August is one of my better months...

CB Radio Voices Following Me Around

The guys that follow me are constantly debateing which one of them is the bigger a-hole. It is really annoying and causes me to turn off my radio seconds after I turn it on. I remember the days of the license, KCX 2004. I can't beleive I still remember that.

    Health Insurance

Miko, go to a BCBS office and have them go over all the plans with you. My plan has no deductable and covers 75% right from the beggining. Office visits are not covered, but with a deductable you are paying those anyway. When my doctor orders blood tests the 75% applies. I've been with BCBS for...

    No BOL

To those who are causing this problem, it's really quite simple. I'll type slowly so you can keep up. When you are going to transfer, just make 2 copies of the BOL, 1 for you to keep and 1 to turn in to the company. This way all original paperwork can go with the freight. Many shippers will be...

    Canada PARS USE REQUIRED

I found out today that Canada is going to make the use of PARS mandatory. They were shooting for September but that has been moved back. Look for it early in '06.

    Standard Mileage Deduction

I spoke with someone yesterday who says you can take depreciation along with mileage, but no expenses. I say you can't take depeciation. Who's right?

I know that no one can give legal advice

I, too, think Ateam has it right. If you are driving the truck, you are personally responsible for its safe operation and would, therefore, be personably liable.

    Bad Drivers

I think most can handle just a conversation while driving. The ones that worry me are people who are conducting business. They have the breifcase open, paperwork scattered and may even try to make notes. I got flipped off by a guy like that when he realized at the last second he was at his exit...

    AlumiBunk Got me

About 20 years ago my former spousal unit and I were on my motorcycle going to an appointment in Dearborn from our home in Commerce Twp. Going down Haggerty Rd between 12 and 13 Mile Rds., a Mack pulling a gravel trailer in the oncoming lane lost control coming at us. There was a moment that I...

    Dress Code?

Is there anything but shorts and a very loud Hawaian shirt in the summer? I don't think so.

    Deer Repellent

I have talked to many people who, like bryan, feel that the whistles work. I am skeptical. I live in northern Mich and most of the time I go to and from home during peak deer hours. I have'nt hit a deer in 15 years. My feeling is you should just go by them being prepared to stop. I think any...

    Canada PARS vs FAST

A lot of failed PARS could be avoided by the driver simply reading the invoices to make sure all the basic info is there. I talked to a Panther driver recently who won't go back to Canada because of a significant delay due to no value on the invoice. He could have easily pointed this out when he...

    Canada Canada, here I come

From what I'm hearing, 4 weeks isn't even in the ballpark of being enough time. My company sent my app in, but the letter still came to my address.

    Paid total miles(or)miles per airbill#

I can only speak for the 2 companies I have been with since I've been in expediting. Both companies pay a reduced rate for the 2nd load. I get 62% for the 1st and 50% for the 2nd.

    Cargo van's w/ over 200,000/mi

I change it every 6 to 8 thousand miles. Most often around 6, only occasionally going to 8. I also wash frequently and keep up on all routine maintainance. My company is one that will let you keep it as long as you want as long as breakdowns are'nt out of line. I've only heard of one guy being...

    Physical Requirements

You were examined by doctors who were confused by a medical condition? I would think a competent physisian would be able to make inquires and find out what's going on. You would think a company the size of Panther could do better than that.

    Cargo van's w/ over 200,000/mi

The number 1 maintainace item is changing the oil. Keep up on that and you will go many hundreds of thousands of miles. My '99 E350 Powerstroke has 762,000 and is still going strong. It is starting to show its age a bit, but still gets from point A to B dependably.

Things to say to proctologists and urologists

Of all the parts of the body a doctor could specialize in, don't you have to wonder why someone would pick the posterior? What on Earth could provoke that calling?
