    lease purchase

RE: lease purchase...Well.. ACTUALLY... :-) According to our everpresent editor Jeff Jensen, Try Hours just started such a program. I don't know the payment or anything, but the article says they do still pay for maintenance and repairs. I don't know a lot about Try Hours, but if I were...

Good Weather or Lots of Freight?

If everything works out right, I do plan to be at the Expo this year. I've haven't managed to make it before. Kinda like to meet Lawrence, Teacel, Weave, Wild Bill and some of you others that have been on here over the past couple years. Just look for the big guy! LOL :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7 :7

    FEDEX CC New Dispatch Crap

As Lawrence said Weave.. Amen! You spelled it out perfectly. There are a lot of ups and downs in this business, and you either want to do it, or you don't... if you don't like one company, find one you like... if you can't find one you like, do something else. I personally chose expediting...

OK... confused about new 14 hr rule...

Thanks for your reply ATEAM. But, that's still not the question. I see the time can be split, however, according to the FAQ, the split time can still not exceed 14 consecutive hrs fromt the FIRST time you logged on duty for the day... I quote...(caps added by me to draw attention to the...

OK... confused about new 14 hr rule...

According to the HOS FAQ here on EO, the 14 hrs on duty are consecutive. The question was, if a driver takes an hour off for lunch, and his company lets him count it as off duty, does it count against his 14 hrs on duty. The answer was yes, it does since they are consecutive from the FIRST...

    I'm BORED

RE: I'm BORED (Hey KandS2) Ok.. I'm trippin now. LOL.. what's the odds that we were in the same area, and maybe even talked to the same driver and got two seperate stories.. maybe he just wanted to shine me on...or didn't want one of us to know the truth.. :) :) :) :) :) Anyway.. the one...

    I'm BORED

Every one I know seems to be running good right now.. seems business has picked up, which is a good thing.. I talked to a Panther van driver this morning, said he didn't know if he'd just been in the right areas, or what, but he'd been running his a** off the past 2 weeks.

Can I make a living at this????? (Pt.2)

Well ATeam, I gotta give you credit, you do sound like you "get it" more than a lot that jump into this business. Sounds like you have a plan and are willing to stick to it. You sound a lot like a guy named Jim that was frequenting another board I go to. :) In answer to your question about...

    cargo loading

It's hard to get it exactly right in a D Unit, as they don't have the benefit of a sliding tandem like trailors. Also, each truck is going to differ, depending on wheelbase, sleeper weight, etc. It would be hard for ANY carrier to train you specifically on each truck. For instance.... and FL70...

    class 8 trucks

RE: class 8 trucks(Weave and Lil Foot) With those longer wheel bases and steers further out front, those trucks HAVE to ride sweet I'm guessin? (**sigh** and dreamin...LOL) Any tall person like me (6 foot 4) would have to have more headroom in those too.... ya never forget those headshots...

WHAT IS WITH THIS FORCED DISPATCH

You could call around to the recruiters listed here on EO and see if any of them hire for US only drivers. Seems like I remember reading on here a while back about a driver being on a non-Canada list. Can't promise, but wouldn't hurt to check with companies. A lot have non-forced dispatch...

    is this right??

I personally think it is MORE than fair. I would have loved for one of the owners I drove for to change a deal like that to my advantage, simply because fuel prices went up, especially if your original deal was 60% with you paying your own insurance. I ran a long time at 50%! Lemme throw...

I Think I Have Driving Fever

Yes it is a serious addiction. I've had my CDL since 1993.. and every time I left driving, I ended up coming back to it.. LOL.. my last time I decided I was gonna get a "regular" job... gave up the truck.. went to a Fortune 500 company in Columbus Ohio.. and became a "suit".. LOL... Well, guess...

    What about CTX ?

I talked to CTX about putting on a van, (B unit, same as pickup with topper) and I knew there was trouble when I asked the recruiter what that 58% actually meant paid to the van and his first words were.. "Oh... I don't know.. it varies"... I asked him if he meant he was recruiting for a company...

    back on the road

Sorry you've had a bad experience with FedEX... I know a lot of people don't like their rules... I've talked to every major company out there, and while many offer less rules.. I have yet to talk to one who pays more per mile.. and to me that's the bottom line... when someone is paying me 1 1/2...

    back on the road

I'm always a bit biased here.. cause to me the bottom line is how much do I get paid for the running I do.. I don't believe in running cheap just to keep moving...and running my wheels off for 50 to 75 cents to the van.. I've always drove for Roberts/FedEx... off and on since 1993, driving...
