Not every driver or van is the same either, one might last 500K one might not, kinda of a hard question to answer.
Maybe we need to be comparing service costs
Oil change
brake job
tune up
transmission service
30K service
things like that

If the parents would manage their kids, then maybe they could go out. I'm talking about kids that are old enough to know better, not a baby!!! No reason in the world should a 4 to 10 year old be running around a restaurant or screaming etc.
If your in a van and the company does not impose restrictions, you can switch drivers anytime you want, when you get tired at restroom breaks etc. In a straight truck it isn't that easy because of HOS:)
I don't know what the solution is, but all these government programs, Medicare, Social Security etc etc are going to bankrupt us.
I am sure there are many that would opt out of SS in a New York minute, I know I would. I am 41 and know that I could do a better job with investments and have more...
If everyone takes their turn like a zipper it works great, problem is you have the people that won't let someone in or the person who wants to cut to the front of the line because they don't want to wait.

I am working my Debt snowball as we speak.
They added expedite a couple years ago, but as Geo said they don't have too much. I'm not sure they would have enough to keep a driver busy, as they give the local drivers 1st dibs
If your moving pallets of paper(been there done that)
Try to get a truck with a 3000Lbs liftgate they are usually oversized and made of aluminum. The smaller metal ones have a large lip on them and a skid will barely fit. :)
