    Newbies and the truck search

RE: Looking to stay 99's or better Most companies require the drivers to have a Cdl. I would go after the 33gvw trucks. The only exception would be if you are doing the vans. Be careful on the latter as age requirements on those are usually less than the straight trucks. Davekc

    The Mother Load's here!

My hat's off to Tom Robertson (Blair Enterprises) How refreshing is it that a company takes interest in their drivers and actually delivers on what they say. It goes to show that when something is ran correctly, everybody wins. I think there are some carriers out there that could learn much...

    Which is the better truck?

If it was only those two, I would go with the Pete. Essentially for the same reasons that Weave posted. In addition, the used truck may be in great shape but small items will have to be replaced sooner. Minor ones like alternators, batteries, belts, tires ect. A certain cost that would have to...

    ~ Cost Saving Devices ~

    Newbies and the truck search

Some good advise from Terry. You don't want to sell a truck to a guy that would have to resell it in short order. Many carriers won't go past a 96 or 97. Payments would be high if one had to finance it for a period of one year. Something to consider Davekc

    FL 70 Blower Switch

on the older ones I believe as well that the panel needs to be replaced. I would also take care to trace that heater wire back to the blower to make sure it is ok and not melted or frayed. Especially were it plugs into the harness and down at the blower. You don't want to install a new panel and...

RE: While I agree with all the "extras" Those items are pretty much standard fair on any truck nowadays. I do agree with the above, start small and work your way up. Same strategy as alot of other businesses. Davekc

The tractor and the box length will give you the demensions you can use for a sleeper. Total length can't exceed 40 feet Cost on a frame stretch is 4,000 to 6,000 depending on who is doing it and what requirements have to met for the drive train. Davekc

    3126 cat

For what it is worth, you can use Baldwins filters as well. I ran a fuel pressure check and it was the same with Cat verses Baldwin The Baldwins are a little cheaper. Hope that helps someone Davekc

    3126 cat

A good Cat dealer should be able to do it for around $200 to $250. Most recommend around every 100,000 miles. You will get some miles out of them if you take care of them. We had one that went to over 900,000 before a rebuild and my current kw is at just about 400,000. So far no problems...

    Is It Happening Again?

For those of you who know me, they know the answer as to why I pulled equipment from Fedex. I at one time drove for Roberts Express. When Fedex bought them out, they came in with different equipment standards, rates, and requirements. The cost didn't fit the means. I had drivers at Fedex for a...

    Is It Happening Again?

Wouldn't it be much easier not to put misleading information out there in the first place? It would be more beneficial for the new folks that you provide accurate information from the start. That way they will know the facts from the fiction or whether you are just pimping your carrier. Davekc
