HOS rules to stay same for now

Its bad news for me, that the split sleeper rule will stay the same. My Co-Driver can`t/won`t drive the 8 or 12 hrs at a stretch. For the life of me I can`t figure how they can feel 8 or 10 hours of a sleepy driver at the wheel makes sense.

    Dispatchers?

Dispatchers are pretty much the same throughout the trucking industry. The company gives them their instructions, and then some do a good job, and some do not. That's pretty much how it goes in all jobs where dispatchers are used. Its hard for us to understand the enormous pressure they...

Best Company for a single driver?

If hard running is what you are looking for, maybe expediting is not for you. HOS makes it tough for a solo. 99% of loads are straight through. There is almost no"run your hours out"and then continue on. The companies you mention will not dispatch you if it can`t be done legal.

What if you break down or get sick?

Two real world happenings with FDCC. While on L/O in HRR,was asked to assist a team who were proving to be totally incompetent on a Haz-Mat load. En route dispatch asked if one of us would drive the stranded truck on to the delivery. I pointed out that it would be impossible for either of us...
