POLL: Did You Have ANY Delivery Experience BEFORE Expediting

A delivery driver spends his day in the same town, or general region, doing things such as delivering packages to office buildings and such. An OTR driver is more involved in the driving than the delivery. And, that delivery will generally be to a forklift driver that will stage the materials...

POLL: Did You Have ANY Delivery Experience BEFORE Expediting

I also had a paper route as a kid, but that involved a bicycle so it was riding, not driving. Most of my OTR experience was drop and hook. I would define a "delivery" driver as someone like UPS, the local guy that works for Yellow, that sort of thing. The brief stint I did in OTR delivering...

Debris Removal Charge?? Permission From Dispatch??

The difference is, the guy doing a local delivery route goes back to the terminal when he's done. If he is providing disposal services he can do it there. If I'm in an unfamiliar city and I'm asked to do this, I would ask where the dumpster is at the consignee and take care of it there, no...

Debris Removal Charge?? Permission From Dispatch??

I once took a 30# box to GM in Lordstown. When I got there, I carried the box to the shipping office. I got yelled at for "taking a man's job". I carried the box back to my van, a fork lift showed up with a pallet for the small box. Unions can be really dumb sometimes. Personally, I don't...

Debris Removal Charge?? Permission From Dispatch??

I would have been happy to take it to the dumpster or compactor that a hospital would surly have. Taking it with me would be something I'd want compensation for. As pointed out, legal disposal is an issue.
