Broompilots post is right on target. One has to look at ALL of the costs and time before making a decision.
I personally use many brokers, so a service of this type may or may not be of use. I can assure you however, we aren't hauling anything cheap.
While it may not be suitable for my own...

but to accuse Panther of ripping people off would be better believed if you would put actual facts down.
That won't happen because he has no facts. As with any company, if you are deciding what loads to take or not take, how are they ripping you off?
If one company was so...
I would agree. If it is the base price, it is to high.
$80,000 would be the highest I would consider.
Same truck but a 2006, around $85,000
Of course, add for generator or any other signifacant options.

For companies that rely on owner operators, it would be a tough sell because most owner operators don't have large cash reserves to put up front. However, there are some that invest in a fleet program.
The example of BarrNunn is a good example.
It is the same thing with the large carriers.
This...
I would agree with Rich if it was a forced dispatch or a employee situation.
That is why I say to review the load prior to accepting it. If the milage is off, request a adjustment at that time or simply refuse the run. We have only had a few occassions were the milage was off. In those cases...
I agree, Mr Fedex:7 is correct in that you need ALL of the information rather than just a small part of it. Just that singular item of fleet size has little value.
Davekc
For this type of information to be of value, you need other pieces of the puzzle.
The amount of trucks is one piece.
But in addition,
you likely will need the following;
How many trucks within the fleet total are actually in service?
Breakdown of vehicle sizes.
Total of loads vs available...
Sorry, totals are not listed that way. You are correct, you will need a recruiter for vehicle type totals. Examples of comparing "C" units to "D" units.
For additional info go to www.dot.gov.
then to safety and security, and then to company searches.
Info can be retrieved by company name, DOT...
There was a short duration of time that all companies were effected by an absence of trucks following both hurricanes. I recieved my information through various brokers and not a QC message. I will say at least, they informed their fleet of what was going on.
Lastly, it is apparent that the...
As for the question of fuel, it's all about supply and demand.
So true.
I would apply that thought as well to the transportation industry.
Rates will increase when there are less drivers and available equipment to move the freight. I think we are just about at that point now.

I don’t want to bust your chops but I am struggling to find your “simple logic”
I must be in the running for DA of the month because I can’t figure out this logic no matter how I flip the numbers around. I again will use your example for figuring.
This will benefit new folks in different ways...

I agree. I have a team running that is based in Arlington, and they do get home at least every two weeks or more. But, it may be a quick stop off while on a run ect. They usually aren't in a position to take several days in a row unless they have a run that takes them straight to Dallas.
As Leo...
Assuming is your problem.
Your analysis may be close if every single run was like that.....
Two things you did not read in my post..
Do not Micro manage
Do not get wrapped around the axle
All I can say is I am doing very well the way I run. I have never turned down a load.
Above budget in...
