The NEW Ultrone TA program is finally here!

We linked our Road King and Petro cards a couple of days ago in Illinois at the T/A kiosk. Today we bought fuel at a T/A and took a shower tonight at a Petro using our Road King card in the Petro kiosk. It seems the system is working.

The NEW Ultrone TA program is finally here!

It seems to me that T/A and Petro are trying very hard to get and keep our business. Not so with Pilot/Flying J. We quit using them about a month ago for anything except a parking lot and restroom.

    Low Paying Load Opps

The load that brought us here came from Richmond and paid very well. It was a Saturday pick up with Monday delivery and was a true expedite load. I wonder if all these low paying opps are LTL's leftovers?

    Low Paying Load Opps

Is anyone else getting inundated with low paying load opps? We delivered near Mount Vernon, IL on Monday morning and are at the T/A in Mount Vernon. I have not kept track of all the opps, but we have had at least 20 with rates below $1 per mile. Many way below. We have had very few above $1...

    Extending Unemployment Benefits

Actually you can draw unemployment. Set yourself up as a Chapter S corp. Hire yourself as an employee and pay yourself a fair wage. Withold taxes, SS, Medicare and pay the matching amounts. And pay unemployment compensation insurance on your employees (you). Wait until you have paid enough...

    Extending Unemployment Benefits

I agree. Welfare should not be free. When I was stationed in West Berlin Germany, 1/3 of the city was on welfare. They had to earn the money by sweeping the streets, sidewalks and doing other type of work for the welfare of the tax paying citizens. What a clean and beautiful city it was then...

    Extending Unemployment Benefits

I never said that the government should extend the benefits or increase your taxes. Just that there are reasons why people would not accept every job offer. My brother is an avid Republican a member of the Tea Party and whatever that vote them out group is called. He would agree with you 100%...

    Extending Unemployment Benefits

I can actually understand someone turning down an offer for employment in the right cicumstances. My brother who has a Phd EE was laid off from his position of Principal Research and Design Engineer. He applied for and received unemployment compensation. For the first time in 43 years of...

    Stolen Fuel Cap

We delivered Friday in Richmond, VA, went to the T/A in Ashland, fueled and parked our truck. (I always double check the caps as awhile back I had not put one on properly and fuel splashed all over the tanks) We had a pick up scheduled in Norfolk on Saturday. Somewhere around 0400 something...

Drivers for fleet owners and Company drivers

We drove for ES (40/60 split) for 7 months then took 2 months off due to a near death in the family. We then drove for another fleet owner (60/40 split) for 4 months then took 2 months off to try and find a local job. We then bought our own truck last October. We are happier as O/O's.

Ten Reasons Men Prefer Guns Over Women

#10. You can trade an old 44 for a new 22. #9. You can keep one gun at home and have another for when you're on the road. #8. If you admire a friend's gun and tell him so, he will probably let you try it out a few times. #7. Your primary gun doesn't mind if you keep another gun for a...

New truck, how to protect wood floor.

When we bought our used truck the floor in it was filthy, had some leaks and stains. To say the least it did not look good. We swept it out, sanded the floor using a palm sander and vacumed it with a shop vac. Next we applied 4 thin coats of Polyurethane using a roller on a long pole. Just pour...

    electric fence

A very funny story. We actually have the 30 mile electric fence charger hooked to enough wire to cover the permiter of 7 acres. My stepson described being shocked by it as feeling like someone hit him in the b***s and on top of the head at the same time. It is very effective at keeping our...

Truly A Sad Day For Gas Powered Expediters

We have already stopped using Flying J for anything other than a place to sleep. We do not use Pilot or Loves at all. None of them offer us any discounts on fuel and they don't have service shops if needed. I would rather spend my money at the T/A and Petro. They are coming out with a new...

Air leaks finally found and fixed

My favorite repair shop near my home found and repaired the air leak I was asking for advice on in an earlier post. Rear brake chamber--broken spring--replaced ABS Valve--broken diaphram--replaced Engine fan hub--leaking seal--rebuilt Altenator pulley-cracked--replaced Belts (2)--worn and...
