More value than just a truck…

I apologize for the typing errors. I now know why these smart phones have the tag line "posted from my .........whatever". It's a pre-programmed apology....lol.

More value than just a truck…

I have to disagree with this. Carriers buy other carriers all the time. If the carrier being sold happens to be non-asset based there is not a lot of tangible assets to be sold other than real estate and. office equipment. I'm sure that some of those carriers may be on the brink of bankruptcy...

Not much help in the "getting a difinitive answer rather waiting til Monday" category though, was I ? Lol.

No, it's a long way from terrible. There's not a lot you can do different. Of all the places to be stuck for a day, Breezewood's not bad.

I don't know. Just seems like a cell phone, access to the internet and a rental car would solve the problem. I do realize that your company is probably calling the shot on this, but as an o/o, I would figure I had a full day to produce a clamp, save the load, a tow bill and a day of lost...

    DT 530 engine

Sounds like it would work to me. There's still some verification to be done, but I would think a phone call to the seller and maybe a dealership would get it done.

More value than just a truck…

I've considered the same things over the years. As a solo o/o, when you buy your truck, your really just buying a job. There is very little to be sold if/when you decide to move on. The only thing you will realize out of the time spent in this business as a solo o/o will be the living provided...

    DT 530 engine

It could be that it designates an electronic engine (ECM) vs non-electonic (mechanical). I'm pretty sure there were some Cat engines with those same differences and same designations in the model number. It would still be worth a phone call. The seller may have just failed to add the "e" ?

I need some serious help here Ladies and Gentlemen!

Yes asking for more time is the right thing to do, but just asking for more time may or may not get a result if you can't give a valid reason for the request. Remember, the OP is a new driver and if he doesn't realize that the mileage discrepancy is part of the problem, he doesn't know to point...

    Motorola Droid Bionic

Thanks, I'll check them out. The phone itself has quite a few help videos pre-loaded. I've got most of what I need figured out now. I've learned the phone is very basic "out of the box". If you want to do something (pretty much anything) well, there's probably an app for that! lol

That's gotta be cool. I'll check into it.

CDL logbooks and Medical card for vehicles over 10,001# GVW

I think he may be referring to the terramax van (the ford version of the Ultramax). Ultramax is an advertiser here. The ultramax and the terramax are actually built by Turtletop in competition with the Cargomaxx. Here is the Turtletop link to the terra and the ultra: UltraMax / TerraMax

Point taken and you are correct in your situation, it would not make sense from a business standpoint to change carriers. I still don't think it's a good way to do business. Your time spent calculating the actual miles could be saved simply by the carrier offering you the loads based on...

Truck Backing Aid: Getting Your Marks

That is a good tip. An old friend of mine told me about it once. I never really had that problem, but it does make a lot of sense. Cherri's mention of it reminded me of "Jim".

    Motorola Droid Bionic

Got the Bionic last week. I'm learning. It's a slow process for me being that this is my first smartphone of any kind. I've read through the droid related threads here and picked up on some great apps (thanks guys and gals!! ) along with several I had already. I think I'll like the...

    Question about winter driving

I doubt it. I'm pretty sure that most of our freight probably comes from the Alliance and we use 45mph.... in the ST's. I understand that the vans here may be routed at 50 mph. I'm not sure why, just what I've been told.

    lease agreement

OOIDA would probably be your best source of information? Give them a call and ask, they will tell you if they can help or not. If your not a member, the membership is cheap and they will be more than happy to set you up.

There is something that is being left out of this discussion. Some carriers do not use practical miles when setting up the load. If they don't and the miles are short, that is also the same number of miles that is used to calculate the ETA. If there shorting you miles, not only are you being...

    Question about winter driving

45 mph is by far the best. It gives you some time to work with. We are dispatched at 45 mph and most loads, you have a cushion of 2 hours or so. If the shipper takes too long to load me, I'm not at all shy about asking for them to bump the delivery time up to account for the time spent getting...
