    First time in laredo

There's a Montana Mike's there. Pretty good steak and reasonable prices. The HEB store on the Bob Bullock loop has a decent produce section. I like mangoes and they're always cheap there. I don't do much else when I'm in Laredo except get a steak and hang out at the J eating mangoes. Of...

    Surcharge for Union Shops?

If I think I'm headed to a union shop, I'll just bust my tail and try to get there early.

    Chicago in the am??

There is that construction on 294, but if you get through there early enough it moves well enough. At least that was the case when I was through there a couple weeks ago. 355 isn't a bad option either.

    Not so Swift

He was going quite a bit slower than me. There were about four or five trucks in the right lane and I was overtaking them pretty fast, then the Swift guy just decided to come over to pass the other trucks. They were going probably between 55 and 60. This was Ohio after all.

    Personal space in Sprinters

I have an '07, 170" wb extended. Before I put in my sleeper I had 15', 6" of cargo space. I measured 12' from the end and built the wall there, leaving me slightly over 40" for the sleeper. I attached a frame along the bulkhead wall and got a small mattress. The bed is 25" wide, which leaves...

    Don't Leave Home Without It

Not exactly. I plug it in there when I set out, but I just figure out my route with the atlas to get from one city to the other. I will plot out different routes on the computer to get the mileage as well if it's a route I haven't taken before and I want to compare. The address is plugged...

    Don't Leave Home Without It

I generally use it just to find the final destination after routing myself city to city with the atlas. I'm with the people who say that it's good to be comfortable with all methods. It's a tool, and like any tool, can be quite helpful if used in the right way.

    vans, who has got what

Same here. I've had mine a week short of a year and have 112k miles. So far just routine maintenance and a new set of tires. It's been a very good van so far. I drove an E-350 for a year before I got the Sprinter. I had no complaints about it other than it being shorter and I couldn't...

July 4th slowdown and the shutdowns

We wouldn't have the first without the second.

    free 411......supposedly

I've used it before, but the voice recognition has a hard time with me for some reason. You used to be able to get a person on there, but now I think if you need to talk to a person, it costs you. A lot of times I just wait until I'm stopped and look up numers online.

July 4th slowdown and the shutdowns

I've been home every night for a week. I've been doing a lot of short distance stuff and just coming back home at night. It hasn't been a great week, but not bad either. I'll probalby be back out Monday, hopefully with something long. Been in my house today, eating brats, steak, and...

    Not so Swift

I wish those two things would be enforced more often. Regarding the hand held phone thing, here is a post from another board I'm on. This other board is a sports related board, but has a section for off topic discussions and we had a lengthy thread about driving. This post wasn't mine...

    Not so Swift

I've been replaying the whole incident in my mind and in hindsight, the whole thing probably happened in a second or less. I think I was hitting the horn and the brakes at about the same time. What amazes me, and maybe others can testify to this a well, is how at times like that things...

    A Review of Express 1!!!

It all comes down to expenses. What's the line? "It's not how much you make but how much you keep." There are so many factors to consider when determining if a business is successful, but in our case I would say that if you're bringing in more than you're spending and you're happy, you're...

    Not so Swift

That's what I normally do as well, but this was a case where the right lane was a steady stream of vehicles. It wasn't like you're going to overtake one and be done with it.

    Not so Swift

In my experience, it's usually inexperienced drivers with some of those "bottom feeder" companies that I see doing things like this. Most of the semi drivers out there are the most courteous drivers on the road.

    Not so Swift

I know a lot of people pick on Swift and last night I had an encounter which reinforced whatever negative opinion I might have already had. I was sitting up in Toledo and there wasn't much going on so I decided to deadhead home. I was coming down 75 and I was still a bit north of Dayton where...

    A Review of Express 1!!!

I've done a few brokered loads for them and always had a good experience. It's good to see a leased on driver have the same opinion.
