Welcome.... 60/40 is pretty much the standard split in this industry. The party getting the 60 is responsible for paying the fuel cost. This said, they also get 100% of any fuel surcharge. Make sure you have this in your contract (you do have a contract, dont you?).

If you are hauling refrigerated freight, look for similar business in the delivery area. Chances are it won't be what you call a backhaul, but that is the nature of this business. You didn't say, are you leased to a carrier? If so, they should be looking for loads for you.
