    Tire Fires

Good post BP. I came across I 10 in California once and it was in the middle of August. In the Indio area the outside temp was 129 degrees. The A/C in the truck could not keep up. I was eastbound and every time I tried to go over 50 mph the engine temp gauge would go right into the red. There...

    Trying to Get info

Generally all of the Expediting Companies build up their fleets for the 3rd and 4th quarter. That is when business levels are at the highest. Also this summer has been very slow for many companies so in addition to building up their fleet Con Way may have lost van drivers.

Drivers With Spouse and Small Children At Home

That is a tough one with small children due to the irregular hours we all put in.A ltl driver with Yellow,Fedex freight etc probably runs a regular round trip so he can plan his time at home. Expediting does not offer that. I guess the best thing is daily communication and when you do get home...

    Health Insurance

I had a plan with OOIDA for a while. It was a catastrophic plan. It had a $5,000 deductible, then they paid 90% of the next $5,000 ($4500) then 100% of the rest. Premium was $145 per month. Problem with Mega Life was that I was told there was a $3,000 deductible, one day I read the fine print and...

OOIDA has some decent plans, stay away from Mega-Life,I had them for while and they essentially stonewall you on any claim.

    No BOL

I would make a note on your own freight bill that the driver of unit so/so would not give a copy of the original BOL.I would also let your dispatcher know about this with the other driver standing by. I don't understand why someone wouldn't allow a copy to be made.

    Reefer Units

I believe Dave was with Roberts for well over 10 years and with FEDEXCC for at least 1 year. Why does he need to enlighten you? Why do you continue to challenge Dave and to a lesser degree Me. Both of us attempt to give experienced advice on expediter issues but you constantly find fault with...

Referral for Frank as a Tax Preparer

In all of the years that I have been involved with EO I have never seen a complaint about Frank. In addition to providing tax services he is also an expediter so he knows the business. I think you could rest assured that you would get a straight shooter for your taxes.

    FDX CC W/G

Palletjack makes a very valid point. If things go south for you with your 175K truck where will you be. Investments in equipment can easily go away if the business you think may come your way doesn't because of factors you cannot forsee or control. I spent several years on the corporate level...

    Reefer Units

Why is the A Team taking potshots at Dave. Dave has verifable 20 years experience, A Team has never owned a truck, been in this business for maybe 2 years but A Team puts dave down.Makes no sense.

    What is the Dealio???!!!

Well the main reason that Dispatch will no longer negogiate is that about 6 months ago a forum member posted and basically bragged that when he was the only truck in the area he would force dispatch to pay out more money. You can imagine how this post was received in Ohio. Management of FDXCC...

    QC #8

With FDXCC you can call into the VRU (Voice response unit), key in the city code you are interested in and it will give you the number of trucks in different classes that are available. You can also check on the outbound loads dispatched out of that area for that day or 1 week ago or any other day.

    Front Brakes

Thanks for the advice, could be bearings as I had them replaced last year, but also cupping on steer tires with 190 K on them. Believe I will go to a front end place,I avoid the local FL dealer as $90.00 per hour for labor is a bit to much..
