How do most companies figure mileage?

Something else to consider on top of how the company figures the miles is whether you are incorporating the loss of pay per miles into your cpm to operate. Another trick is how the load is dispatched. Shortest miles for pay and fastest route for dispatch time. eb

    Expediter lanes better states.

It would almost be a coin toss for me, but Ohio is more central to the known universe of expediting, some would like that. However, if you stay in the center, the longest loads can only take you half way across the circle. Live on the edge of the circle and there is always the chance of the...

vanners: what's your fav truck stop?

Walmart and the public library. Rarely the truckstop, and sometimes even if I sleep at one, I'll leave without even touching the ground. Doing a search for UltraOne and "Fleet One"; it returns more comments on different card programs. There was one thread from when Lawrence was helping to set...

Pros and cons to a permanent sleeper

Yes, only one. The first remodeling job. You still have to do all the others as they come up. Where do they all come from anyway? eb

Pros and cons to a permanent sleeper

It is the "it can vary..." part that I'm talking about. You only have an idea of how any carrier works until you are running their system. One carrier pays higher for sprinter loads, another carrier "says" they pay for sprinter loads. Once that is established then I'll work on being creative. eb

Is the vehicle going to be following the freight or coming home every night? Is this vehicle going to have it's own customer base or be leased on with a carrier who will find the freight? eb

Pros and cons to a permanent sleeper

Run for a while without a "permanent" sleeper and then you can calculate what you would lose in volume and weight. Also try doing a search on the forum for "sprinter sleeper"--quote marks included. eb

    What if there were no....

I like a mix. Sort of like having a mix of hobby drivers, who stay close to home, and those fulltime extremists who do it for a living and stay out and follow the freight. In the mix for fleet owners and single owners, fleets provide a general bulk of vehicles, and single owners provide an...

    the **** advertising tab

Honestly, I wasn't intending for this to turn into a thread that would spill over to a second page. But inspite of all the hits, I still have no idea what this advertising tab is advertising--something about a total package? eb
