Cost of hiring a new driver

I've read over and over in this forum O/O's talking about the cost of putting a new driver thru orientation, etc. Can someone put some numbers here, explaining the expenses of hiring a new driver for their T/T, S/T or van???? Just curious. When I went thru orientation, I paid for my own drug...

    Dispatchers?

We were with Tri-State for 2 1/2 years.......Never in that time did they ever mention a problem with refusals. Although we very seldom refused a load. One thing we did was look at the load, miles to pick up, paid miles to delivery, etc. Look at the $0.00 the load paid and the FSC.....then...

    Dispatchers?

The truck we were driving was leased to Metro Express in St. Louis Mo. by our owner......We were only with that company for 3 weeks....THANK GOD!! They claimed to have dispatching 24/7. Near Laredo, Tx. at 5 a.m. with a 7 a.m. delivery. Call dispatch for specific directions to the delivery...

    Van Forum

Terry, let's see if I can explain a little better what I mean. I drove straight truck when I was in expediting, which I hope to get back into this comming spring. Anywho, when I first started reading the forums, being "straight truck oriented" I'd just assume people were talking about straight...

    Van Forum

I think it's a great idea!!!!! Running a van compared to a straight truck or a T/T is like comparing apples to oranges. It's a whole different ball game running a straight truck compared to a van. Personally, I'd prefer reading posts just from the straight truck...

I think I have Al Gore beat!!

The black light was invented and mass produced by the politicians in Washington D.C. I think I read somewhere that this all took place in a remote place in the desert called "area 51"....... The figured if they recycled "dark suckers" that were already full, and sold them as new dark suckers...

    Possibly useful info

Let's see, on a whim, thru marriage or divorce, a woman gets to change her name "legally". Now she has a different "legal" name............now she has to change her drivers liscense, social security card, bank documents, etc.... is it really worth the time? Wonder how it would look going into...

    As bad as it seems?

crazynuff........your right, I totally forgot about the GVW ratings... When I said not to "sugar coat" it......it's not a picnic out there....dealing with everything life can throw at you "out on the road". And yes, we've all taken those little side trips to sightsee, but bottom line, at least...

    2007 Peterbilt 335

I've never driven a 335, but have driven 2 different 330's......one with 400,000 miles on it, one brand new....had 115 miles on it... I loved driving those Pete's!!!! Never had any problems with either one. Ride was exceptional, quiet cab, handling was superb in all conditions...........super...

    As bad as it seems?

You say your "certified" in everything up to/including a 26' straight truck, but don't have your liscense yet. If you don't have your "B" CDL, your not certified in anything yet! You have a ways to go before you even get behind the wheel of a truck. Take the time to get your liscense, take a...

How do I get background on a fleet owner

Sounds like he'll be a "hands-off" owner also. LIke he is lining up his new drivers. I'd run!!!!!!!!! There are plenty of "good", "honest" owners that will help you anyway they can.

What if you break down or get sick?

That actual thing happened to me once. Parked the truck on an entrance ramp, ambulance took me and my wife to the hospital. After I was stabilized, company sent another husband/wife team to drive my truck (with owners permission) back to the shipper to unload. They then brought the truck back to...

    Angels are watching

In response to Broompilots post. First of all, thank you Broompilot for the post!! We all need to stop, take a breath once awhile and count our blessings. This is what my wife and I would do while we were "beating up and down" the road. You've all seen these people around truck...

    A happy ending, I guess!

I wonder what would happen if when someone was signing on with an owner, and the owner brought out the good ol contract, if the prospective driver pulled out his own contract and wanted the owner to sign that.......:) I imagine most owners wouldn't even get close to one...........and the driver...
