The Right Fit or Bigger Ain't Better

OVM, I will say that it is very interesting how our paths have crossed, considering my incidents with carriers and our mutual affliation with one of the same. PS. I sent you a PM too.

Am I this good or just lucky?

LUCK: That which happens to a person; an event, good or ill, affecting a man's interest or happiness, and which is deemed casual; fortune. Luck respects persons and their proceedings. We never say, in a literal sense, that a plant has the luck to grow in a particular place; or a fossil has the...

    Public Apology

Let begin by saying that a meek and humble spirit is worth its weight in gold. Most folks are so full of pride (I, I, I,) that they could never admit any wrongdoing. Just the fact that you were humble enough to make a public apology is a testimony to your character. If I had an extra truck...

Class 8 owners how's your mileage?

Ditto on the 60 MPH. Actually I run by the RPM's to stay on the "Sweet Spot". At 1900 RPM that puts me at 61/62 MPH. It nets me 20.5 MPG. If I push it up to 2200 at 65/66 MPH it drops to 18.0 MPG. Hey, if you want to run 70 MPH, help yourself, but do not tailgate my van. Use the left lane...

    Good carrier relationship??

No offense taken. #3 indicates that the FSC changes as the price of fuel changes. Some carriers do not change the FSC to the truck as the price of fuel changes; they pay a flat fixed cpm, and some pay no FSC at all. #4 Considering that we have an 85% turn over rate in this industry, your more...

The Right Fit or Bigger Ain't Better

OVM, When we spoke I had only been sitting empty for two days. At that time, the thought had not even crossed my mind. I sat there until Monday (5 days empty)(Sat & Sun were by choice), drove to Atlanta and sat for another 3 days empty. During that time period, I had the opportunity to work on...

    Good carrier relationship??

Just wandering what makes most people leave a Carrier A and go to Carrier B? 1. Lack of, or resistance to, open and honest communication. 2. Lack of opportunities to increase one's bottom line; opportunities that are in addition to freight runs. 3. Fixed FSC's that do not track the national...

The Right Fit or Bigger Ain't Better

Over the past few years, I have read many posts regarding which carrier is the best. Recently, I had the opportunity to work with a carrier that is considered by many to be the best in the wonderful world of expediting. On the corporate side they are extremely professional, they have the best...

Going Belly Up, This Goose is about Cooked

Yes sir. I got out of expediting for about 9 months. Just didn't feel comfortable working for someone who asked me to violate my Christian beliefs. In the long term, if you ever decide to return, we all are willing to offer assistance. In the short term, if you need prayer, a hospital visit...

    Chelsea Clinton Interview

I was trying to add a little variation amongst the confrontational posts. If rdytrk feels that it is inappropriate for the “General†forum, I apologize for my error in placing it here. The pork chop post by arkjarhead was priceless. I got a huge chuckle when I read it. Mods…if folks...

    Samer Theory

I thought "samer" was the southern pronunciation for the season when the sun’s radiation does cook our brains.

    Chelsea Clinton Interview

Chelsea Clinton recently discussed current events with a U.S. . soldier. She asked if, as an American fighting man, anything scared him. He told her there were only three things he feared: 1) Osama 2) Obama and, 3)...

    cat bashing

Vulgarity is simply an excuse for not using language that more properly and effectively communicates one's thoughts. It is like the smoking issue. If you want to smoke...help yourself. Just don't force me to inhale by smoking in my presence. Want to trash talk...help yourself. Just don't...

    ? for c's and D's

Technically the "Sweet Spot" for my 6.0L is 1900 RPM's. That puts me at 61 mph. The 2008 has a Driver Command Center that allows for a digital tachometer display and I can dial in the cruise to an exact RPM. On a return trip from the deep South I averaged 20.5 mpg! WOW!

Canada Canada ranks Number 2 and is on its way to becomin

RE: Canada ranks Number 2 and is on its way to bec Uh, would those socialist programs include the pastors who have been jailed for speaking the truth from the pulpit? Considering the fact that Socialism is a step closer to Communism and a Democracy is two steps farther away, I don't find your...

    Spark Plugs

A friend of mine recently changed his plugs. He asked me today which plug was rated the best. He has a 6.0L Chevy 3500 and he put in a set of Bosch plugs. Roger was also asking if the double or triple tip electrodes were worth the extra money and did they really provide any benefit. I told...
