    E-Trac suppliers + Chevy(gas) - VS - Ford(diesel)

RE: E-Trac suppliers + Chevy(gas) - VS - Ford(dies That monthly cost is what will make or break you, and where the diesel will get a bit better MPG than the gas van, it won't be enough savings to make up for the additional monthly cost plus the little aggravations that go along with running a...

    Hello Expeditors!!!

Hi Alfred, When you talk to Thompson, a good co. for Canadian expediters, their recruiter will tell you what specifications are required to run freight for them. I have ran for them before, but it was a long time ago, and I do remember they required trucks with air ride at that time, but that...

    Tire Balancing

The moisture is there with the air that is used to inflate the tire. The air around us contains water vapor, and when it is humid out, there is a lot of that. Good shop air compressors have water separators, or dryers. And yes, are the things you hear pop or hiss on big trucks with air brakes...

Fuel Saver Pro +27% increase gas mileage =Anyone u

RE: Fuel Saver Pro +27% increase gas mileage =Anyo There is absolutely nothing that can be snapped over a fuel line that will do what that says. It would be like putting golf balls in your fuel tank to improve MPG and balance your tires at the same time. Or the herbal "stop smoking" pills. I...

    Volvo Straight Truck?

A-Team, have you considered talking to the Housworth's? They seem to be very respectable people from what I have heard, and that is very hard to find in the trucking business. Probably good people to drive for and get your feet wet in the business, who also understand you might want to be a...

    cargo loading

I wish there were a simple solution to this, but it takes some experience with the truck you have, and can be tricky. Best thing to do is determine where the center of your rear axle is in relation to the inside of your box, and mark some lines inside the box- this will become the balancing...

    E-Trac suppliers + Chevy(gas) - VS - Ford(diesel)

RE: E-Trac suppliers + Chevy(gas) - VS - Ford(dies As you are starting out new, I would go with the Chevy gas job at close to $10k less bucks. It's certainly a relaible steed that will make you good money and last a long time if you treat it half way right. If things flop, it will be easy to...

    New DOT HOS Regs

It starts Jan 1, 2004, and goes like this: 11 hours driving, 15 on duty, and 10 required off after that. 70 hour rule stays the same, but hours reset to 0 after 36 consecutive hours off. Yes Rich, I totally agree this will do NOTHING to improve highway safety! STUPIDx(

    Tire Balancing

I am going to have my truck at Steve's Equipment tomorrow, and I will talk to Dave Pagano, Western New York's guru on truck tires and alignments. I will ask him about golf balls for balancing, and see what he knows about that- maybe it's true? I also read an article in Land Line where someone...

    Tire Balancing

The centramatics are excellent, I had them on my old FL70 and will add them to my new truck when I replace its steers. They are only made for big truck wheels, but automatically adjust the static balance. I have heard this golf ball thing a few times. Just taking an educated stab, those golf...

    Volvo Straight Truck?

Ok, I understand, and running for a fleet owner at first is a very good idea. Just about any standard Volvo tractor could be stretched into a straight truck. But, if you plan to go all out when you are ready and order a brand new factory built truck, things will be a matter of whether Volvo...

    CLUTCH PEDAL VIBRATION

With the 6 and 7 speed syncros, freightchaser, the rattle noise is actually considered normal when the clutch is properly adjusted. Hard to believe, and annoying, but true. You figured out the cure- turn the radio up:-) The big-truck clutches do this a little bit too sometimes.

    CLUTCH PEDAL VIBRATION

How old is your clutch? Did you try getting it adjusted yet to see if that stops the vibes? That problem does sound true to a worn throw-out bearing- basically the clutch assembly has some imbalance. If adjusting it doesn't help, it's going to have to come out and be replaced. -Weave-

    class 8 trucks

That is a sweet looking truck, I have seen you on the road a few times! One thing that is nice about late model repos- one man's loss is another man's gain! Diamler Chrysler Credit has so many right now, they are starting to get a little more liberal with the down payments and financing. Best...

    dash lighting

I'm not familiar with the E350 dash either, but just about all auto parts stores have Haynes or Chilton books for them for around $15. There is a section in the back of them for how to dissassemble the dashes and other interior stuff without marring everything up. It's usually real simple and...

    Volvo Straight Truck?

It does sound like I was being a bit of an #####, so I'll try to clarify a little more. As far as your equipment goes, if you are new, START OUT WITH SOMETHING MODEST! By that I mean a truck under $60k. You will have no trouble finding a nice late model unit for that, and maybe even something...

    NYC

My co. gives an extra $80 to go into any of the bouroughs. This more than covers the tolls, and gives a few extra bucks for the traffic and general aggravation. I still most often leave that area with a headache the size of Alaskax( Just one of those places where if it's not one thing it's...

    Volvo Straight Truck?

Well, to be honest, this is a JOB and I have seen VERY few instances where O/O's who have tried to make a truck into a motor home have lasted. Just go to a truck stop, and try to find any- few exist. Now more than ever trucking is about money and competition, and only the strongest survive...
