    Pay

I know that for many of us, this doesn't sound like the "right" thing to do, but if you're an owner/operator, I don't suggest giving 2 weeks notice before leaving unless you're with a large, established carrier like panther or load1 or some company that you KNOW isn't going to try something like...

    2015 Ford Transit Maintenance Costs

Where did you get your transmission flush done? That seems cheap. Those prices include tax?

All Things Expedited... Anyone have any experience with this company?

Because I've been on the bidding/dispatching side of things. I know how the bidding process works, and I know there is no reporting to the shipper of where my trucks are at in the majority of small/multi-carriers. The large carriers have internal systems that show where all their trucks are via...

All Things Expedited... Anyone have any experience with this company?

EDIT: You know what, I'm sorry. I appologize. You've been doing this a long time, and so I'm sure you're very confident in what you "know". My information is unlikely to change that for you, so you're right, we'll just have to agree to disagree. Have a great day, be safe, and I wish you all the...

All Things Expedited... Anyone have any experience with this company?

There is no disagree. Do you bid on loads? The shipper generally posts the load, rather than carriers posting the truck. As a dispatcher & O/O who has managed 2 different carriers, I bid loads all the time, and I've never posted a truck's location. I see a load where I have a truck available...

All Things Expedited... Anyone have any experience with this company?

But that's the point. Shipper doesn't see 2 units where I'm at because they're not reporting their capacity to the shipper. And the second carrier isn't even putting a bid on it without your sayso, so that entire scenario is a work of fiction. It's a story made up by exclusive carriers that...

All Things Expedited... Anyone have any experience with this company?

I just explained this 2 posts ago. It's because they don't place a bid unless you tell them you want the load FIRST. So if a second carrier called you on the same bid, you'd just say no. Or, if both carriers pay a flat rate, you can tell them both yes and it won't effect what you earn anyhow...

All Things Expedited... Anyone have any experience with this company?

Sure, which is why I specifically said I know nothing about that particular company, and that it sounds like they're super shady. But that doesn't condemn the entire multi-carrier business model. And the inflated capacity doesn't effect anything when those companies aren't reporting their...

All Things Expedited... Anyone have any experience with this company?

The multi-carrier model isn't nearly as bad as you may have been led to believe. The primary distributors of the idea "multi-carriers hurt the business" are the exclusive carriers. By making you think multi-carrier is evil, it makes it easier for them to maintain their exclusivity with their...

Yeah, well, I have absolute respect for the job that police officers do out there every day. That said, there are plenty who have proven that they really don't know the law half the time.

Once for a DUI checkpoint, several times by those commercial truck checks near border towns, once for speeding where the speed limit abruptly changed and I didn't see the sign, and another time for an expired plate that wasn't supposed to be expired.(I paid to renew my plates, and had a receipt...

That's awesome that you've found a good one. I've heard nothing but good things about crossroads express. They were actually my first choice for carriers when I initially got into this business, but they weren't bringing any cargo vans on at the time. As for the factoring fees, there are...

Low prices are killing this month!ppl bending over like crazy!

It's not a change that happened in the industry, it's just about who is responding in this thread. The people you see talking about bids are likely either: #1: Running under their own authority, and are both the driver and the dispatcher for their own company. -or- #2: Working with an extremely...

I'm proactive dispatching because I'm dispatching myself too, but thanks all the same. ;) I actually think a smart driver should experience dispatching, and vice versa with a dispatcher, so that both sides understand the plight of the other. It's easy to undervalue the work of, or underestimate...

You should check my edit up there vanman. Added a fun story. :D But you're right, in a place with a bunch of vans, that might not work. But in a place with 500 vans, you're probably not winning the bid anyhow, so it doesn't matter. I add the line every time and it has always worked well for me...

Low prices are killing this month!ppl bending over like crazy!

I just put the onus of losing a standing bid on them by utilizing the "notes" section when I place bids. Whenever I place a bid, I subtract however long it will take me to get there from the pickup time, subtract an additional 30 minutes for life happens, and put in the notes that the remaining...

And then what? I'm running a cargo van with no external decals for DOT or MC #'s, no ifta, under 10k GVW, and I've been stopped for various things several times now. I've shown them my BOLs, license, and insurance information, and I've been let go without a citation every time. I have the...

I don't like running cheap freight, but I do what I have to do sometimes. I ended up averaging about 70 cpm this past week because I took a cheap load from Texas to Chicago to get back to the midwest shipping lanes. But that was 4200 miles at 70cpm average. Would definitely rather do that than...

    Expediter Movie to be released!

Haha, when I first saw the headline, I was like "Oh no!" Every industry that gets a TV show or movie ends up being garbage afterward. Like Uship with shipping wars, or storage auctions with storage wars. I got to see both of these before those TV shows were on the air, and can say that these...
