    Best paying load...

With all the talk of no loads, low paying loads, etc. Lets think of the better times - what was your best paying load? Mine would be the 6 mile mini in MI paying $13/mile FS and $60 mini pay. Only 1/2 mile deadhead and put me 1st out in all the board in Detroit.

Well when I took my class A you had to pass air brakes to even get my permit not taking it wasn't a choice. May be some states would let you have a class a with a air brake restriction. But I would think it was stated on ur licesne.

    Generally Speaking

All depends on the owner, I would say most the time is would be gross. Now some include the fuel surcharge and some just pay 40% of the mile pay. A 60/40 where you get 60 + FSC is better in the long end, you'll make more money. When I drove for Panther and got 62% which was .744/mile + FSC, most...

    Has anyone seen this?

Searching the net today and came across this: http://www.expeditertraining.com/ I just started laughing. Read the site - they charge $159 and it doesn't seem like they tech anything out of the normal, if you took 5 min to look up you could find on your own.

    Laredo, TX

I'd say if it was a good load, deliver then head east and sit on the beach for a few days... There isn't very many places to head after delivering, San An is 3 hours away and that is deader that Laredo. Houston's a good bet but if your going to drive there for free might as well stop by the ocean.

Well its all depends on how many trucks are down there for your specfic company. Now with panther I had one time where I sat for 3 days waiting for load, then another time where I had a load out before I even delivered. They may offer you a low paying load just to keep you moving, its upto you...

    Panther and Paperless Logs

If a cop want to see your logs you can show them the QC or there is a can ed msg to have your logs faxed to location of his choice for review.

    Panther and Paperless Logs

Thats my grief with them too. We ALL do it - move the truck but don't log it. Now, most Panther safety staff would give you a 10-15% lee way on it - if you ever seen their set up there isn't much change in the paperless, just its transmitted over the QC. Their computers show every time they...

    Pusher Axle ?

Well I'm not trying to break no laws, if I have to pay FET, I'll pay the FET. Now, if there is a loophole that allows me to pay 12% only on the axle and not the whole $130,000 truck so be it - if that means waiting 6 months, so be it also. The main reason of this post was to figure what to spec...

Would anybody be intrested in this... (Repost from

RE: Would anybody be intrested in this... (Repost The reason I added the oven was for the winter, you can easily go outside through in a pizza, or cake then sit in the nice warm truck as it cooks. Only a few mins needed outside to put it in or pull it out.

Load payment - is it negotiable?

Before you talk pay know where you stand - trucks in front of you, behind you, where your at, where the load is going, deadhead etc. If your 4th team in Chicago and they offer you a reduced load going to Laredo you know for sure that the other 3 teams turned it down. If you tell them no they may...

    Excise Tax

I searched for this but couldn't find an answer. Okay, if I buy a truck that is less than empty weight of 33k #s I don't have to pay FET right? I'm slightly confused as to this FET. Now if I add a pusher axle from the dealer he said I would have to pay the 12% on the whole purchase??? So I...

    Pusher Axle ?

thanks for the good info. As for controls, you may think I'm crazy but - My friend is a computer genius and so am I so were going to get the air-weigh setup, which you can intergrate into a computer, then wright a software program to even out the weight using relays and control valves. I have to...

    Pusher Axle ?

I'm ordering a pusher axle for my new truck, a 2007 Columbia CL112 - 96 sleeper - 22ft box - engine undecided but it's going to be CAT. I can't get the axle from the dealer or tandems because then I have to pay 12% FET. I found a good dealer and a good product but he need to know if I want dual...

    Owner/Driver Contract?

Make sure that you and the owner are both agreed on time off and how the truck will be ran. The most important thing to remember is that your an independent contractor so if he tries to tell you when and how much time you can have off that makes you an employee. Search for post by me and find...

A note on unions (not related to trucking!)

Well yes CEO's are WAY overpaid! BUT there shouldn't be someone mopping the floor making $40/hour - but the union allows for that to happen and then payroll cost jump and then along with the high-ups salary that they won't budge with the company goes BOOM!
