I must say we tried the portable unit but it's such a hassle to hook it up and pack it back that we hardly ever used it. So we put in this...just fire up the generator and plug in.

Don't know about side window install...but we did finally find one that is only 16.5" wide at our local Home Depot (GE model).

We carry a jump box with us....keep it charged with solar panel and use it to power USB fans as well as giving a jump.
