    Express-1 versus Panther II

Arky, you'll need a CDL Class B license minimum, you don't need your HazMat end. though, as Express-1 hauls No HazMat Loads. Having freight work experience helps, as well as a couple hundred thousand miles under your belt too no doubt. I don't think the mileage thing matters though so much...as...

Whats the better Truck??? & Why-Opinions/Reasons

RE: Whats the better Truck??? & Why-Opinions/Reaso I'm not planning (as of right now) to buy a truck. I am however planning to drive for an Owner Operator. Many many that I've talked with so far have an FL70 and/or an FL80. One had a Pete 330, but I said no because I don't like Pete's, esp...

    Van vs Straight Truck

I have to say that is a sharp idea and very innovative. What is really cool is that you have no doubt a truely "stand-up" sleeper I am sure. What you've done with that expeditor van/Cube/box truck is interesting though, very similar to what some household moving companies have begun to do more &...

Whats the better Truck??? & Why-Opinions/Reasons

Ok, many O/O's in Expediting, with a straight truck, seem to have 2 types of trucks for the most part-those 2 being the FL70 & the FL80. Most of them have either a 60" or 72" sleeper along with either a 22 or 24 ft. box. However, most of them seem to be having a 22 foot it seems-atleast in my...

    PantherII, solo, D unit drivers?

I'm sure you did it, & do not say if you did or did not...but the easy-so to speak-way to get around that, is/was to just end at 14 hours. We do that all the time in busses-though you all did not hear me say that. About to be funny, so prepare yourself...Lots of wait time in bus biz-most...

    PantherII, solo, D unit drivers?

No doubt we will all see more & more team operations, not just in Expediting freight work, but also in regular trucking as well.

    PantherII, solo, D unit drivers?

Arky, read my reply to Dervish as well as this one, but I will tell you here as well. Panther II limit's solo drivers to 500 miles in a day, Express-1 gives solo drivers a max of 700 miles per day. Panther hauls HazMat, Express-1 does not. I have my HazMat end. so that makes no difference to me...

    PantherII, solo, D unit drivers?

Dervish, I read your reply, & I want to reply to it 1st. then I will reply to the post itself. Dervish, I've been talking with Panther II & Express-1. I noticed right away the difference between the 2 ...Panther II is seeking teams more than solo's. Express-1 sent O/O's after me right away...

    Express-1 versus Panther II

Mcbride, that is interesting to note...what kind of truck are you running though-is it a cab-over? or ? "The maximum sleeper size with a 22' van is 96 inches" is a quote taken from the Alumi-bunk.com web site> http://www.alumibunk.com/customset.html, I think that a 96" sleeper for just myself...

    Trucks/sleepers/Boxes

I know the answer to this question, but curious on feedback anyways. An FL80-if any of you out there have them-has a fair amount of room in it with a 72" sleeper, how long is a comfortable amount of time to stay out in expediting. In the bus biz I'd stay out anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 weeks plus...

    Van vs Straight Truck

Seriously, I don't know of a cargo van that can carry 26,000 lbs., except ofcourse maybe that Kenworth "SUV"... if you can't stop before you go under ....Smile!

    Van vs Straight Truck

if that cargo van is handling over 26,000 pounds...I want to see a picture of that Cargo Van!

    Express-1 versus Panther II

Teacel, so what you're saying is take the 60/40 split-taking the 60 % for myself & paying for my own fuel. Now if I'm reading those threads right...they're saying that by paying for my own fuel then I'll be more careful when it comes to using it-which makes logical sense. I used to drive busses...

    Express-1 versus Panther II

ok, Yes, I knew that the 33 to 35% deal wasn't any good, even if they get me at 37% I still would not take it. I'd rather take that 50cpm deal where the owner pays the fuel & I get a $200 expense allowance. I don't think I'll be able to get it, as they're lookin' for a driver right away and I...

    This Freightliner look any good?

One more thing Sterling...Leg Room, if you have a tall driver of 6 foot plus-and/or you yourself are-get in the drivers seat of these cab overs into a driving position & sit back & see just how much room you really have-then jump back in your sterling and count your blessings. Remember, a happy...

    This Freightliner look any good?

Sterling Owner, I have to put my 2 cents in here. I've driven Cabover Box trucks. Hauled glassware to wholesale clubs all over the S.E. US-mainly FL & Southern GA & Southern AL. Key word is Hauled-past tense. They're great for tight runs in tight towns/cities, long distance though? I would not...

    Trucks/sleepers/Boxes

Vernon, the FL80 is a 6 speed. The Ford Aeromax LTL is a "super 10" speed. Vernon, what your saying is the FL80 is the better of the 3 or ? I see many expediters out there with these business class Freightliner cabs, why is that? cost ? or ? I don't mind shakers, I like them actually. I also...

    Express-1 versus Panther II

Ok, you wrote: "We are with Panther currently.", then wrote: "I am not sure what panther pays now, but it was at 1.35 a mile.", so I'm confused. You also wrote: "Some of their milage is based on when you signed on. Some run at a 1.30 ect. I think it depends on your truck size as well.", Explain...

    Trucks/sleepers/Boxes

Ok, 1998 Pete 330 with 9 speed Eaton Fuller with a 60" Double Eagle Sleeper and a 22 foot box I do believe, with approx. 400,000+ miles. With a Cat. Engine 60/40 deal for driver. 1995 Ford Aeromax LTL with a Super 10, 60"+ hi-rise sleeper, 22 foot box I believe it is. 500,000+ miles. Not...
