WHAT IS WITH THIS FORCED DISPATCH

You could call around to the recruiters listed here on EO and see if any of them hire for US only drivers. Seems like I remember reading on here a while back about a driver being on a non-Canada list. Can't promise, but wouldn't hurt to check with companies. A lot have non-forced dispatch...

    is this right??

I personally think it is MORE than fair. I would have loved for one of the owners I drove for to change a deal like that to my advantage, simply because fuel prices went up, especially if your original deal was 60% with you paying your own insurance. I ran a long time at 50%! Lemme throw...

I Think I Have Driving Fever

Yes it is a serious addiction. I've had my CDL since 1993.. and every time I left driving, I ended up coming back to it.. LOL.. my last time I decided I was gonna get a "regular" job... gave up the truck.. went to a Fortune 500 company in Columbus Ohio.. and became a "suit".. LOL... Well, guess...

    What about CTX ?

I talked to CTX about putting on a van, (B unit, same as pickup with topper) and I knew there was trouble when I asked the recruiter what that 58% actually meant paid to the van and his first words were.. "Oh... I don't know.. it varies"... I asked him if he meant he was recruiting for a company...

    Slow week?

I don't believe historically, I EVER got a load out of Kokomo... I usually would wait 24, then request relocate to Indy, or just run up to Chicago.

    back on the road

Sorry you've had a bad experience with FedEX... I know a lot of people don't like their rules... I've talked to every major company out there, and while many offer less rules.. I have yet to talk to one who pays more per mile.. and to me that's the bottom line... when someone is paying me 1 1/2...

    back on the road

I'm always a bit biased here.. cause to me the bottom line is how much do I get paid for the running I do.. I don't believe in running cheap just to keep moving...and running my wheels off for 50 to 75 cents to the van.. I've always drove for Roberts/FedEx... off and on since 1993, driving...

    HAZ-MAT FOR CARGO VANS

I have to disagree with you here. ... I actually have Hazmat and Tanker.. have had for years.. leftover from my days hauling Anhydrous Ammonia.. and at least with FedEx, I would have missed some good paying loads if I hadn't had Hazmat. Now granted.. 90% of the Hazmat loads I hauled in my van...

Dispatch Rules Change, for the Company

Well.. this thread has just shown me how sheltered I have been as far as companies dispatch procedures..LOL.. I have talked to several companies, since I'm getting ready to make the move from just driving someone elses vehicle, to buying my own... and never thought to ask them how they did the...

    Who goes to Columbus Georgia?

Hey guys, (and gals) I'm asking this for a friend of mine who lives in Columbus Georgia.. what expediting companies regularly go there, so a guy could get home, and what companies, factories, warehouses, etc, USE expediters there? (if you remember from your trips there!) Would appreciate any...

    what?? CB/Radios are you using??

I've played the same radio for about 10 years... in truck, van, didn't matter, same setup.. and it is in my personal vehicle now. It's an old Cobra 29 LTD classic with talkback and Superstar Echo Power mic. I know there are a lot more powerful radios out there, but this one sounds good as long...

    How are E units doing?

I haven't talked to any E Unit drivers from FedEx, but I did talk to a Panther II E Unit Driver the other day, and he said they were running good as a team, but running mostly B to D unit freight. He did mention that the Panther E unit pay is $1.55 per mile.

Tri-States new short haul division? Thoughts?

Talked to a Tri State rep the other day, about their new short haul division, which is non sleeper equipped straight trucks based out of Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. Apparently they just started doing this a few months ago, and I called to inquire, because I noticed in an ad, they were hiring...

    B units out West

Furthest west I've ever been with FedEx was Kansas City, Kansas, and that was only one time. I have heard of people who went out further, but had to deadhead back a ways to get another load. I very rarely went further west than Illinois.

Tell About Your funniest or scariest truckin

I will never forget the scariest! It was back in the winter of 1993. I had just started expediting for Roberts Express, and drove a very light Mitsubishi cabover. I was northbound on 23 headed for Toledo a little past midnight, and a really bad storm had hit that night. There were very high...

    sell or trade??

RE: sell or trade??(there's 1 in the classifieds) Hey.. just noticed that in the classified section of this site, there is someone wanting to trade his 22 ft reefer box for a 22 ft dry box! Could be the answer! Did you try contacting him? He advertised on 8-16-02.. who knows, he might still...

    sell or trade??

The reefer D-Units I've seen with big sleepers, usually have the reefer mounted underneath the truck. I know Alumibunk does it that way... I'm sure other companies would be able to do so.. You "might" be able to get in touch with them and see if they can just get reefer boxes, instead of...
