    Some honest questions about FSC

Charging a FSC is in option . If the shipper isn't charged a FSC there is no need to try to show the contractor what the FSC should be . The purpose of a FSC is to allow a set rate to be contracted then allow a FSC adjustment so the shipper doesn't pay too much if fuel goes down or the...

    Water Pump Life

The real problem with the 6.0 was the head bolts . There are good aftermarket bolts that will cure the problem . "Head gasket failure became a common cause of repair. "Especially on the 6.0L, there was a design flaw-not enough head bolts. The head bolts pass through an aluminum carrier and...

    Winter Tires for C/Vs

Good thinking . In inclement conditions you don't have to just worry about the ability to control your vehicle . You have to worry about everybody else's ability to control their vehicle . You don't see many of them concerned about their tires .

    Some honest questions about FSC

I have to disagree . If I was a shipper being charged a FSC I would want to know how the charge was justified . Any bit of the FSC not given to the party buying fuel is an unjustified ripoff . As far as the nondisclosure statement goes I doubt it applies once the contractor terminates a contract .

    Some honest questions about FSC

Savvy way to operate but there's that "need" word again . That's a big problem in this industry . You should get what you are entitled to , not just what you need . Say the rate pays you $2.50 a mile . That's great . No need for a FSC . But is it right the shipper may have charged a $.30 a...

    Some honest questions about FSC

You'd better believe it would matter to the customer if they were aware of it . It's the contractors that establish the service with the customers . Customers pay a rate expecting the contractors to get the amount they are due . I knew of a carrier that changed their FSC structure a few years...

    Some honest questions about FSC

The cost of a reefer is a constant that figures in with calculating operating costs . The same could be said of a pallet jack , figuring its cost and how often it will have to be replaced . Fuel is a major expense and the cost fluctuates often . I agree with posters that say if the rate is...

Well Now! What Do We Have Here?

More carriers should leave the ATA altogether . The ATA's agenda is to benefit carriers with thousands of trucks and make it impossible for smaller carriers to compete . EOBR's are a good example . How many small carriers can bear that expense ?
