    falling out of bed

My 2 cents on the sleepers having horizontal (front to back instead of side to side) bunks. While they may save on space, you have to take turns much differently, since it's much easier to roll somebody out of a bunk set-up that's not side to side. When you're in a position of bumper to...

    Expediter Tractor Trailers

YYYESSS Chet! Thank you so much. Getting good solid info from actual "solo" "tractor" "drivers" is difficult. I'm happy to hear that info, and glad to hear that biz is good. I'm curious, so do you make "money" when you roll south out of the "north"? or do you get enough to live? There's a...

EO CB channel 29, alive or dead ??

Regarding not getting anybody on 19... when I really want to get a hold of a driver in the same direction I'm going... I first check their rig for a CB antenna... next I'll pull up along side their drivers side ((if road, traffic, and weather conditions permit)) and do like I do in the northeast...

    Pilot is Towing Trucks

Living near a Pilot, and frequenting them often when on the road... I will say I can understand a Pilot towing somebody off of the area where the tanker for Pilot unloads fuel. Think about it, it's got many facets of illegal written all over it - not to mention the security and safety risks...

    Future of Trucking

I highly doubt my generation will have to worry about this "rapid freight moving system". I doubt that even my kids will have to worry about this system if they get into the transport biz. Why? Look at how long it takes the DOT to add one lane in the course of 5 miles. Let alone 1 lane across...

    Expediter Tractor Trailers

Thank you for the replies, so it seems like small print on the tractors and many leased trailers. With regards to other expediting co.'s, in the Carolina's and east coastal area's I rarely see anything more than PII and/or Fed Ex CC trailers. I see many straight trucks, from all different...

    Speedco

Speedco will continue to see my business. I use them on occasion when I drive private motorcoaches. I have used them for big truck work. Look at what you wrote, you said you used to get charged extra for more oil, now instead, you get charged twice the cost of the old prices... compare those...

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OUR FORUM MEMBERS!

Well, it's a few days late... but, I hope everybody had a Merry Christmas. Christmas Eve I was in Clinton, SC (about an hour south of Greenville, SC). Early Christmas morning, about 430 AM I drove my car down to Ocala, FL where my mom is. It rained the Entire time from Clinton, SC to Ocala...

IdleAire is everywhere!!! No room left to park!!

RE: IdleAire is everywhere!!! No room left to par What happened to Chet??? Maybe he's on a really Really long layover at IdleAire??? Regarding that CheckInn Card, I ran for a bus fleet that had tried them out... but it was a hassle. I guess they've gotten better and improved their service...

    Expediter Tractor Trailers

Yes, I'm going to post another topic on tractors trailers in expediting. How come I rarely see trailers with expediting co.'s names on them. I rarely see Expediting Co.s tractors with names on them as well. I see a good amount of PII and FedEx, but Nations Express, All-State, Express-1, and...

IdleAire is everywhere!!! No room left to park!!

RE: IdleAire is everywhere!!! No room left to par I'm with LDB on this one... idling costs about a gallon per hour. Sooo. you figure what it costs (on average) for a gallon of diesel. Then you multiply that by 4 hours bare minimum... and probably figure for better numbers about 8 to 10...

    Panther owners aquire Coach America.........

Running the NorthEast and east coast regularly, I can say Academy does have it's share of beaters. Take a closer look, they're not all that in my opinion... the winner up there is Peter Pan Lines, with a snazzy paint scheme on most of their fleet - their coaches and drivers are for the most part...

    Panther owners aquire Coach America.........

In response to the above replies... I was not aware that American Coach Lines had changed and is now "Coach America"... that almost sounds as if there's a tax advantage deal going to somebody somewhere... it's barely a name change. I'd really just consider that a gently-stirred name reversal...

    Panther owners aquire Coach America.........

a coach driver of 7 years now on and off... This is interesting... However, I think Coach America and American Coach Lines may be 2 different companies. I highly doubt that Grey Hound will ever be bought out. They don't seem like they're doing well sometimes, but they're not hurting. They're...

    The Holidays

A Happy Thanksgiving to all who read this... along with all drivers out there who may or may not be on the big road somewhere in America (and/or Canada). Be Thankful drivers... you may not be home, but hopefully you're warm (not freezing), safe, and not hungry. If your on the road, partake in...

Finding loads for other EO members

it's Turkey Day, you got 2,200 miles to run home to. I tell you what, if i was that far out and it was Tuesday afternoon on Turkey Week... I'd be rollin' as far as I could. Drive, Sleep for 4+ hours... and roll some more. You can make it by Thursday afternoon/evening if you wanted to bad...

    ARI Sleepers

Well, it's not so much 2 cents worth as it is possibly helpful information. Recently I had a private coach up at the Ohio State game, and I got fuel at the J in Walton, KY... where I should have dumped the holding tank. But I didn't. Oh Well. No big deal right. I've had 12 people onboard this...

    Have you seen this expediter?

In Reply #35, I had the private coach from SC in OH at the Ohio/Michigan State game. Had the George Rogers Radio Show onboard, with his Heisman Trophy... That thing is biiiig!

    Is this a good idea?

My 2 cents... No, it's not a "do-able idea" as you worded it. Expedited Freight is emergency freight, it's not regular freight, it's gravy freight that's sporadic and unpredictable. Don't do it until you're ready to commit full time to it. My 2 more cents... you've been there 22 years...

    Making Money in Expediting

Yes, Why is it that so many seem to think that adding a lift gate and a reefer unit will automatically coat the exterior and interior of a truck with 100 dollar bills?.
