Getting Into the Business - Need Advice

You will need commercial insurance (CIS is highly recommended on this site). 90 is a fair enough rate to get started imo considering you aren't investing any capital. However, there is a tonne of info on this site. It's not an easy job or lifestyle to get use to. But if you don't have a good...

EO University Workshop Van Workshop Update: Expedite Expo 2011

Reading the Vans 101 is cancelled thread, I got a good chuckle. Being a bit of a noob around here, I've found that most of you try and discourage the other noobs, I've seen come to the site and scare them away with "the market is saturated", "you can't make money" and just generally joking...

Its official as USA and Mexico sign pact to screw American truckers

You are right, it does nothing for the american worker but neither does the $25 inverter in your van/ truck that lets you power your laptop / fridge or chinese made rice steamer. If someone can do something for pennies, do you want to pay 20 times as much for it to be american made? Lets...

Its official as USA and Mexico sign pact to screw American truckers

There are more important things than just revenue, like profits. It would be equally as ludacris to ban the efficient use of 53' vans and demand all cargo be delivered on straight trucks and cargo vans to increase the revenue, jobs and taxes created in one industry. As long as we compete in...

Its official as USA and Mexico sign pact to screw American truckers

The reality is those brokerage offices in Laredo are inefficient and unnecessar. They only serve as beauracracy and drive up costs. Sorry but I am phone posting so I can only respond to a small section at a time.

Its official as USA and Mexico sign pact to screw American truckers

My point was that if Mexicans are allowed to drive freight, they will certainly do it for considerably less than what an American would. So my ooint was to hire one of them and let them run for a peanuts and make money off their back. Assuming they could do intrastate.

    Good, or bad?

Sitting here in Laredo, I was thinking about this last night. Why pay some coyote hundred or even thousands to try sneak you in through some river / bushes. Why not just fly in legally to NYC with a return ticket for probsbly $300 and just not take the return flight. Then get a new I'd...

What should a buyer look for when buying a used Sprinter?

When I talked to my boss, I told him one of the options I was looking at was an 04 and he said that they had suspension issues back then, which were resolved in later years. Does anyone know anything about that? He said it caused them to be more susceptible to being tioped over.

It didn't move in the 4 hrs I was there. I am not propely set up in this van so I need to do what I can to escape the elements. It made a huge difference, I could tell it was a few degrees cooler there than when I was driving, when I was driving all day,it didn't seem like my a/c was making an...

Its official as USA and Mexico sign pact to screw American truckers

If a mexican is willing to work for 20 cents a mile, why fight him? Adapt, get out of the driver seat and let him run for you. Buy another used van and hire another willing Mexican who will undercut the next guy and work for 15c, Meanwhile you are making probably 20-30c doing nothing but...

The Sinking Of The Titantic - FDCC

This is basically what I was getting at with my post. Its obvious that both parties have moved on, I was just pointing out from a technical stand point, it was weird and silly.

I was exaggerating when I said world. I've never been to Mexico, Puerto Rico or any of the parts of the world that would obviously have bad roads.
