    Do You Track Every Penny?

Don't track exactly every penny but do track all expenses for the most part. I keep a small amount of cash for spending on coffees and such which is like a 20 for the week. Otherwise yes get receipts for meals, maps (should I buy one) and of course truck items. More receipts, the more I've...

    Load weight for Vans

Shippers make a mistake on their weights??? No way --- say it aint so!! Know what you mean... one of our regular shippers was so off we took whatever he said in lbs and immediately interpreted as kgs. We found this closer to the truth on about 65% of his calls. He has since improved but...

    Load weight for Vans

GM rates the 3500 van (extended wb) at 3950lbs of cargo. Now that's the basic unit so options like more speakers, you, your bed etc all have to come off of that. So yeah the 3000-3200lbs sounds near right with the gear. To be sure, weigh it and do the math. Rob

    VIN Number Displayed

Not sure about it being a requirement but I've seen a lot of trucks in the last couple of years with the vin displayed along with the dot and other numbers that the govt wants to see. Somewhere it must be a requirement or I would not see so many with it. Rob

id like to know more about hotshots.

Most large cities have a couple of companies doing hot shots for the bearing, electric motor, gearbox (gear reduction units) and such industrial type goods. A pickup truck is fine for this type of business. Most of the calls come out of the major centre and go out but a lot of dh back to the...

I'm going to try it on the radio next as it's supposed to work with it as well. I have about 3 headsets which i like better except for...

    Vegas leftovers anyone??

Everyone is getting r&r right now. We sleep over half the day (rest) and then get up and walk to whereever to releive and stuff our faces and to stretch the muscles and then we get out the lawn chairs and watch traffic on the highway and the four wheeler antics (the other R). Rob

    Extra Charges

In my case I work on a percentage so the carrier gets a piece of everything charged for, waiting, cancellations, handbomb, etc. Not necessarily the fairest but a lot easier for their bookkeeping. Rob

    TriState & Caterpillar

Re caterpillar and expedite loads... Cat still offers the 24hr delivery of parts for the machines under warranty. The problem right now is that Cat and Deere and other equipment mfrs have a lack of new sales and the fact that many customers are hardly utilizing the equipment they bought last...

During home time, how safe is your truck?

I don't know if it's my imagination or not but over the last few months I've noticed more trucks with graffitti all over them. Most of it is bad but the odd one is done by someone with some talent. I know some of these trucks are parked in industrial areas but no fence or gates to keep out...

Finally a carrier that works for their cut!

Glad ur doing good. I'm with a small carrier as well and prefer it to the larger ones. While it is noticably slower we are still a growing company and so far I've been able to keep rolling. I do admit though having 2 trucks is really helping out. Rob
