Malfunctions - Breakdowns - Flat Tires

Thanks Dave! I'll keep that on file as I am working on transitioning to a straight truck.

The Impact Of The Big Three On Me

Great! Mileage has not really been an issue with me. I had a 66 Chevy Belair with a 283 V-8 that got 28 on the highway. You describe the basis of the issue in one simple word..."cheaper" GM only stands behing the engine and transmission (i.e. powertrain) for 3 years or 36,000 miles. Most...

    Thank You

Simba, I considered running under my own authority, but as a solo driver I didn't feel it was worth the time spent looking for freight instead of driving. If I were a team driver it might have made more sense.

    Considering a change

The recruiter at On Time had the courtesy to call me back. Although I was already hauling for someone else, I believe that says something about their character. Morevoer, I haven't heard any negative comments from other drivers I met out on the road.

Malfunctions - Breakdowns - Flat Tires

Terry, You are quickly becoming my best friend! Maybe you should start charging me for the great ifo you have provided to this new guy. I found the AAA info: Eligible Vehicles Basic: Service applies to all properly licensed four-wheeled motor driven vehicles of the passenger, pleasure or...

The Impact Of The Big Three On Me

We have always had debt no matter who is in office. The debt created during the Clinton years was the result of an over inflated stock market. Stocks were trading at unrealistic rates! Everybody was getting fat and the credit card debt was at an all time high. Nobody heeded the warnings of...

Malfunctions - Breakdowns - Flat Tires

Really? That is very interesting. My AAA info didn't seem to offer assistance to commercial vehicles. They don't freak out when they show up and see company logo on the van? I wonder if their coverage is posted online. Thanks my friend. Sitting in Louisville, KY waiting on freight.

Malfunctions - Breakdowns - Flat Tires

Need some input from you pros out there. As a former road warrior sales consultant I was in the habit of using AAA for roadside assistance. Obviously, AAA does not respond to commercial vehicle calls. Just curious as to how others have handled breakdowns, flat tires, etc. Any companies...

NO HELP FROM THE TRUCKER'S HELPER

Please allow me to apologize for one incorrect statement regarding the snafu with Trucker’s No Helper. John is correct in saying that he did not contact me. I just found out that it was a competing salesperson who had offered a free demo also. When I received that follow up call, I was just...

    FedEx Ground may go union

Hey, I lived on the other side of the fence for a number of years. No, I am not proud that I was never incarcerated for operating outside of the confines established by fair and just laws. In fact, I am ashamed to have ever lived such a wicked life. That said, I know that corruption and graft...

    Church Services

Yes, you can worship in your truck. I would ask that we consider what saith the scriptures. Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; I think the Lord is very clear that He wants us to worship with other Christians. Personally, I need the...

    FedEx Ground may go union

Certainly I would agree that there is no perfect system. There is no utopia. Trials and tribulations will come. Personally, I am struggling to keep myself in the black as we speak. I made the personal choice to enter the expediting business during a slow period. Yep, went right out a bought a...

    2006 Duramax Update

This was an initial purchase for me. I wasn't topping off the tranny fluid in Florida. Just in for an oil change, but service folks should check all fluid levels. I just was surprised that a GM Service Tech didn't have Dextron IV available and didn't even know that the 2006 models use Dextron...

    2006 Duramax Update

I was asked to post some information about the 2006 Chevy Express Van with the Duramax Diesel. At 6,000 miles I am averaging 21.0 mpg. Largest load to date was 1,000lbs going to Grand Rapids, MI. Mileage was the same. I usually run between 65-70mph. Here is the van configuration: 2006...

    FedEx Ground may go union

Point well taken. Let me restructure my comment. If you don't like the organization with which you are contracting, simply go elsewhere. Now, that's America. It is a privilege (not a right) that few others enjoy in this world. Remember, it always takes two willing participants to consummate...

NO HELP FROM THE TRUCKER'S HELPER

Normally, I don't sweat the small stuff, but these guys really pushed my blood pressure to new limits! They are trying to market a product. Great! And that what a free market system is all about. Of course, there should be reasonable expectations on both sides of any transaction. I accepted...

That's wierd. I was referred to Tri-State by one of their best drivers and they told me there was a freeze on cargo vans until sometime in March.
