    At that time, I was working with this co. for over 6 years, and they weren't cheating on mileage more than 20-30 miles on long ones (runs over 800 miles), and not always, but time to time...

    I had a heavy load at that time, and that was another reason to stay away from the mountains as much as possible... The extra-stop to Laredo raised the run to a little over 2700 miles...

    I remember that I had a run few years ago from Beaufort, SC to Sacramento, CA. They told me it's 2300 miles, paid a buck per mile... ok, I took it. I know I was supposed to take I-40, but it was end of october and anyway I had plenty of time to reach the destination, so I took the I-20/I-10...

    Absolutely negative... last winter I had no problems, got caught by winter storms once in Ft Wayne, once in western TX, from Van Horn to Odessa, and once in NM before Albuquerque (I was goin' west)

    I'll say Ford... :D I had a Savana '97 which was giving me 17 mpg, then an E-350 extended, with a better mileage per gallon: 20.

    JD, I used to work for a short period of time for a carrier that was paying as low as $ .60/loaded mile. I don't know how much were they charging the customers (or biding), but I'm pretty sure it wasn't under a buck... the good thing was that they were keeping me busy all the time...
