    About to take the plung

The true formula for making money in a van is to have a company that is smaller. A company that can provide you with round trip freight. I worked for Arrow Freight Systems out of Ypsilanti Michigan for 6 months and did pretty well. I would begin my week in the Detroit metro area and 8 out of 10...

    Medicaly Unfit Drivers.

I have a bit of "dissassociative identity disorder" as on part of my person loves my cassier and the other part absolutely despises them. If I am loaded and running down the highway i am a happy driver. But, however, if I am not loaded and rotting away in a wal-mart parking lot i'm an angry...

    Van Pay

It is a numbers game people. If you had say 10 cargo vans on the road and made like 200 a week off each one, you could make 8000 a month. That is considering your fleet is paid for in cash and all of your trucks are dong at least 800-1000 miles a week. Once again, it is simply a numbers game...

GM to shut down for half of the first quarter.

You are right. We we simply get paid too much money to pull automotive freight. Just last july I pulled two skids from Nogales AZ to Detroit MI for 1700 dollars. Now does that make any business sense? I think the big three need to cut out the middle man and have their parts suppliers move their...

GM to shut down for half of the first quarter.

Holy snikes, you jumped on that post pretty fast! Do you have a pager that goes off every time your screen name is mentioned on EO? lol. Well, is the current van freeze subject to change any time soon? I know things have gotten pretty bad out there these days. I hope you are weathering the...

GM to shut down for half of the first quarter.

Does that mean that E-1 does not consider NLM a "major account" and the linehaul rate for NLM cargo van loads has risen to 80 cents per mile? Just wondering!

    hard times

So when my friend was deadheading from a remote location to another and asked the dispatcher how may trucks were on the board and they answered "nine!" Then he said he's gonna go home bacause he does not want to wait on that board and they respond back with "hey we got a load that picks up in...

How do I see Panthers' available loads?

The home office won't know about the bid board. The partner carrier/broker division of Panther is located in a different building and the regular dispatchers do not really know too much about it. Good luck though.:p

How do I see Panthers' available loads?

Let me break it down to you guys. Panther has a load board where partner carriers can bid on loads that their own drivers turn down. The loads on the Panther bid board are usually short loads and loads that are going into undesirable areas. Like a load going from Atlanta GA to Miami FL. Everyone...

    hard times

Some companies play favorites. Plain and simple. I have a friend who drives for panther (they are a team) who are never offered anything under 800 miles. They pulled into Spartanburg SC and ran into a fellow panther (solo) driver who had been sitting there for 8 days without a load and within 4...

    what bad economy

Keep in mind that consumers on black friday got all of their christmas shopping done for about half the price. The major retailers were letting merchandise go at a loss this year just to stimulate consumer spending. Yeah, there is no doubt that a lot of people got some great deals on friday, but...

How much have cargo vans been running lately?

How much have cargo van drivers been running in the past three months? Have you seen a significant drop in the number of loads that you have been averaging? Also, what company do you currently work for?

    Fedex and The Rate Busters!

Will you expedite my order as a server at Applebees? I want my food delivered direct from kitchen to table without any stops to fill up other patrons coffee!! lol

    Fedex and The Rate Busters!

There are going to be potential negative implications from the Fedex cc's move to lower linehaul rates for their cargo vans. Assuming that the Fedex cc is actually going to lower their customer rates in order to become more competitive with other carriers (and not just saying that they are going...

    Boy am I happy

The problem on the road is expenses. What if we could have our own EO owned truck stop where it would cost next to nothing to sit and wait for a good payig load in a not so decent area. I would buy the old 76 truck stop on joliet, and make it restricted access to expediters only. There would be...

    Boy am I happy

If I hit the lottery really big, I'd build three or four "driver supported" expediter only layover centers in key expedite areas. I would charge a yearly membership for the maintenance and upkeep but provide a very cool place for us all to hang out at while we are waiting for loads.
