First night back on the road and someone breaks into my truck.

Unfortunately that was the only eventful thing today for me. I'm still sitting empty. Oh well, guess I'll make this a Netflix night.

First night back on the road and someone breaks into my truck.

Hello all. I'm a noob who just got started back in Sep. 2014. I worked about 3 months and had to stop for a while because of health reasons. I'm now back on the road, and was surprised to find out someone went into the back of my truck and stole my straps and load bar. Seriously? I was...

Will do. Like expediting, uber and lyft have their busy and slow moments. I enjoy doing it.

    After 3 months expediting

Hello all, I'm back to update my experiences as a first time driver. It's been about 3 months now and I'm still in love with this career. Unfortunately I haven't been on the road in 3 weeks because I failed my DOT physical. I have a history of sleep apnea, and had to do a sleep study. I...

    Acceptable home time

Thanks everyone. Wife will be fine, it's a lifestyle change for both of us. But this is just a test run so only time will tell if this career is good for my family. I did speak with the truck owner and we came up with an arrangement. My minimum out time is 2 weeks, I knew that from the...

    Acceptable home time

Thanks both of you for the response. I talked to him a few moments ago and we both agreed I'll be home by Wednesday after next and begin again on Monday. That will give him time to change the oil and fix the leaks I have in my sleeper. He actually has a load near by me right now but I'm at 70...

    Acceptable home time

Hi all. So far things are still going good. I'm staying very active as far as loads are concerned. By the time I drop off a load and get my ten hours, I get an email for another load. I've been out here for two weeks now, consistent loads everyday. With that said I'm going to stay out one...

Hi there, I don't have a van. I'm driving someone's straight truck. I'm fresh in this business still. I'm learning a lot everyday. People in the forum can best help you with those questions because I have no idea. Maybe you should drive a fleet owners van for a few months before you make any...

My 3 weeks in the expediting business

That's understandable. But I'm guessing I'm being treated more as an employee because I'm never given a choice. I just get an email saying this is where I'm going and this is what time i need to be there. I usually send a text saying there is no way I can make that time. No legal way anyway...

My 3 weeks in the expediting business

In a perfect world I would team with my wife. But she already has a career she loves and worked hard to get--and we have the student loans to prove it lol. I think some of the loads I have been getting are for teams. Twice I've been late to a pick up because they would want me to drive to say...

My 3 weeks in the expediting business

No. I personally like working alone. I made 1200 my first check, and my next one will be over 2000. So I'm ok with that. Naturally I would prefer to make more, but I can't see myself jammed into a straight truck with another person. But I can imagine how much money they make weekly. My gosh...

My 3 weeks in the expediting business

Well messing with the logbook isn't on my list of things to do. Anything illegal has undesired consequences when caught. But if fudging the logbook is the only way for solo drivers to really earn, I can see why so many people prefer teams.

My 3 weeks in the expediting business

Sounds like every one is effected. Will my lack of current logbook negatively effect the carrier as well?

My 3 weeks in the expediting business

I can imagine. I hear of some people getting fined $1000's.

Professional Transportation Inc. can be a good place to make a fresh start

I used to work for renzenberger some years back. I enjoyed it. But I eventually left them for a better paying job. They do the same thing as your company. It is a really nice way to get a feel for being on the road.

My 3 weeks in the expediting business

Hello all. Well, I am on my 3rd week as an expedited straight truck driver. I must say, this is the most stressful, exciting, dull, fast-paced career I've ever had lol. My first week I was all over the place. My second week I sat in Oklahoma for 3 days, then in Missouri for 1. After that I...

Drinking beer in the sleeper berth

@ A Team, there was no orientation at all. I answered an ad on craigslist, and later that day I met with two Russian guys at their office. They sent me down for a drug test, then showed me their trucks. By Tuesday they had deposited $300 into my bank account for food and I was on the road. This...

Drinking beer in the sleeper berth

I will do that right away. I had no idea such a book existed, which is why I'm glad I posted on this forum. So beer is a no no, even while off duty but sleeping in the truck. Guess if I ever feel like driving I'll just get a motel room. Thanks everyone for your response. Again, I'm brand...

Drinking beer in the sleeper berth

Hi everyone, I have a rather weird question. Is beer allowed inside the sleeper berth/truck when we are off duty? This is my first week as a contractor. Friday I got a run from Indiana to deliver in Oklahoma. Only problem is, the delivery is scheduled for Monday. I made it to Oklahoma about...

Is it legal to modify a straight truck to have a sleeper?
