Fork lift loading for small box trucks with a lift gate.

Hi, I’m planning to buy small box truck that has a lift gate (1500 lbs capacity) Is it possible to load this truck with a forklift if the load let’s say 3,000lbs? Will they be able to do that? Will the lift gate interfere? Please see picture.

What is going on in Atlanta?

I’m glad that you are so successful o/o and drive for good rates; but I sit at home and not behind the wheel. If I was driving myself I would probably drive for better rates. I’m more concerned about weekly gross. I can’t keep my drivers motivated on $1,500 weekly gross even at $1.20 per mile. I...

What is going on in Atlanta?

I looked up on Sylectus today and they had over 400 vehicles within 50 miles radius in Atlanta today; (I admit that some vans are counted twice or more due to multicarrier arrangement) but it’s still too many vans. I was able to get one to NM; lucky me, I guess.

I called Load One, and they charge 66% I think from the gross, leaving us with approx $15K-$19K monthly revenue; not enough for my liking. I need $27K+ per month, per ST truck.

This is how I want my truck to look, with 6ft sleeper, AC, and a diesel heater for a team operations. There is no sweat shop mentality here. I can’t build them an RV and expect to make money. This is business. If drivers don’t like it, they can go ahead and find an office job or join the union.

Yes, you are correct. I wanted to learn the transportation industry And vans have the lowest barrier of entry. I just showed up to the dealership with no upfront capital and I am in business 1 week later. Now I am ready to move up.

They pay for fuel with my CC which is later deducted; I am conservative and give my vans 2 year useful economic life for accounting purposes. If they can last longer - better for us.

Yes, they pay for fuel with my CC but it’s later deducted on the settlement. I think it’s better for drivers to get 55% on the $3,500 weekly gross than typical 60/40% split on $1,500-$1,800 weekly gross. We are working extra hard to keep drivers loaded and driving. Our top driver made $72K Net...

For some I pay 55% to drivers, but they pay for gas using my CC. Some are fixed at 30 cents for loaded and 20 cents for empty after 100 miles.

I have an advice to all drivers. Don't buy new and extended vans. My $21K 2017 Transit T150 LWB Mid roof has 19mpg, carries 2 pallets and makes the same money or better than $53K 2017 extended diesel Sprinter. I only remember once or twice - I couldn't get a load for it due to size limitation.

Panther, FedEx or XPO will give you $1,500-$1800 gross per week, we do $3K+ per week. I work with 4-5 brokers and also bid on Sylectus. Sometimes if we are lucky we do partials, especially from Chicago to CA, WA or OR trips. Cargo vans is a tough business, and now I’m ready to move up into...
