Need help 2008 Hino 7.6 with 91k miles and possible knock

Great news. With a valve adjustment, new Injectors, new DPR, new software and a proper exhaust brake adjustment you should be good to go! Sounds like you got a dealer that knows what they are doing. Best of luck

Need help 2008 Hino 7.6 with 91k miles and possible knock

I just fix them, I don't really know what they are worth. I would take into consideration the transmission and the drive train as well. These engines will go forever if properly maintained. I question the intermittent skipping, Hino's have a little injector jumper harness under the valve cover...

Need help 2008 Hino 7.6 with 91k miles and possible knock

The DPR is roughly $3000 with 2 gaskets all bolts and maybe a temp sensor, they should also update your ecm software and adjust your exhaust brake after the repair is performed. It sounds like the cam housing is leaking as well,. Warranty pays 5.3 hours for a cam-housing reseal plus parts. I...

Need help 2008 Hino 7.6 with 91k miles and possible knock

What were the codes? PM me the vin and i can check warranty history. Depending on the region of the truck and the fuel used it very well may need injectors, Is the hard skip intermittent at times?

Yeah that's a fuel knock for sure. Good to hear it's running good otherwise.

2007 Hino 268 transmission issues, stuck in Florida

That's a lot to respond to. If it derated as soon as the CEL came on, that leads me to believe it is probably in derate due to an engine issue rather than a transmission issue. I can not account for why it blew out the trans fluid out. Unless from sitting it got an air pocket somehow? If you...

Need help 2008 Hino 7.6 with 91k miles and possible knock

Yes. On the lh side of the steering column there is a mode button, scroll through until you find “system check” then if the code is active it will say engine warning. Hold down or up for a couple of seconds and it will show the code. You will have to do it a couple times to get a feel for it...

Dead hole is a cylinder that is not making power. Could be due to a valve, rings injection that sort of stuff

On listen 3 it now sounds more likely a skip. Or maybe a dead hole.

Need help 2008 Hino 7.6 with 91k miles and possible knock

The 2008-2010’s had a decent fuel knock at 1000 rpm’s when cold and the injectors were on the way out. Even with good injectors they usually had a slight knock. That sounds like possibly rod knock. They are kind of the weak link on the JO8E engines. I would remove the oil filter and cut it open...

Need help 2008 Hino 7.6 with 91k miles and possible knock

It definitely has a knocking sound that changes with engine rpm. Could be a million different things. I personally would not drive it like that.

    P0263 P0266

You need the graphing tool to decipher the txt file. Only some dealers get this info. If you are not at a dealer the data is essentially useless you. Here is the "cowboy" way to do it. Remove the 4 bolt flange and disconnect the DPR from the exhaust. Bring the engine up to temp (176 degrees or...

    Hinos idiel issue

The surge could be caused by a suction control valve, a loose or bad connection on the common rail fuel pressure sensor. Wiggle the sensor for the common rail and see if it get erratic. As for the SCV if you gently tap on it and the idle smooths out you most likely have a issue with the SCV. It...

Diagnosing P206A Malfunction in urea quality sensor

2014 The def quality sensor was installed in the def tank with the sending unit. 2011-2013 use the nox sensors to validate def quality. Check the yellow def pump connector for def leakage. Its not uncommon to have the pump crack internally and wick def into the harness. I would check th4...

Hino 268 No Throttle Response In Gear

Sounds like a turbo/ VNT to me, especially that vintage. Is the check engine light on? It’s hard to diagnose without dealer software but... look at the linkage rod on the turbo and have someone turn the key on and off. It should “sweep” up and down. This moves the VNT vanes. I have had a few...

How to tell if a shock is bad?

There are no Cv shafts or ball joints on Hino's. They use a straight I-Beam front axle with kingpins. If it is a conventional then it's a Meritor front axle and if it is a COE then it is all Japanese. You could have a wheel that is out of round making a hop. Swap the fronts with the rears and...
