Thanks! I never thought of it as 'carrier oppression' but I think you nailed it!

In a way the company just HAD to change with the times. I really don't hold too much of a grudge. They are still a good company IF you want to be willing to work their way with no questions asked and take their system for what it is.

Booking our own loads off the load board is only one part of the system. We have gotten calls from agents telling us that they see us in the area area and they have a load and wanted to know if we'd be interested in hauling it for them........so these loads never see the load board.

Yes indeed. You pay for truck repairs before they will give you your truck. It is hard to believe that trucking companies pickup freight and deliver shipments and then are willing to wait nearly 2 months to get paid.

Just to give some FYI and food for thought. In 1986 my wife and I leased on with a United Van Lines Agent to be on a mileage fleet and haul a special trailer with an overhead crane. Our pay back then was $1.05 ALL DISPATCHED miles plus a handling fee. The best I remember we averaged $1.35-$1.45...
