The 338 or the 155? 338 was used, can't remember the miles at time of purchase, but not a lot as it was only 1 yr old. 155 I bought new.

    Problems with 2015 hino 155???

I bought a Hino 155 in 2017 for my cabinetmaking business. After looking at the Isuzu and the Hino it was and is my considered opinion that the Hino is a better built truck. My 155 has had no unusual service requirements and never gives me any issues, but because we run it 90% local there's not...

    J08E Injectors & DPF

Found injectors online from a manufacturer going by the name of ERIKC. Little doubt they are China made. Even though they are very affordable (read that as cheap), I am not inclined to use them unless someone has a positive experience. Anyone know about ERIKC?

    J08E Injectors & DPF

Anyone give me an idea on what the cost should be to do new injectors & the DPF? The test was done & I am given to understand that the injectors failed. The DPF may clean up but they won't know that until they get into it. Consequently I'm looking at a worst case scenario cost. Any input...

Hello again Mr GTS I have a self-inflicted problem: the box I put on my cab & chassis is too tall to back into my building. I have 11R22.5 tires on it. My rear axle is 21,000 lbs, tires are plenty capable. Now here's the questions: Can I use 225 (or 255) 70R-22.5 tires? That would reduce my...

Low Pro tires: will 275/80r 225 tires have a negative impact on my 338? Can my dealer program my speedo to correct for the smaller diameter tires? What will the impact be on rpm at cruise with the 6 speed Allison?

My new (to me) Hino 338 update. After searching for a few months I bought a 2013 with about 60,000 miles. Came to me as cab & chassis. From NYC to Rochester NY it gave me 12.8 mpg; not too bad for a 33k truck, but no box yet. Just putting it in service today (4/21/14) with a 25' box. It...

That is what I was hoping to hear. I have an agreement on a 70,000 2013 338, will see it in person Wednesday to cast it in stone as long as it is as advertised (& I am confident that it is, but as RR said, "trust but verify") I'll be putting 50,000/year at most on it so I would expect a long &...

Hello again Greasy. So by 2013 did they get the pollution control stuff sorted outl? Are you seeing these late models making their owner/operators loose their minds with servicing the pollution control systems, or is it something that folks can live with reasonably well?

Mr GS: Looked at the 07 338 yesterday. All the aluminum in the engine compartment is really corroded, the oil pan is rusted really badly & looks like an awl would go right through it, there are mismatched tires in the back, & there is evidence of (previous?) water leak in one of the upper front...
